Where to Get Knives and Scissors Sharpened in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

There used to be a guy who came to my neighbohood but not anymore. I've bought 4 different kinds of sharpeners, but still don't my knives and scissors as sharp as he did.

Any suggestions?

I live in lower Sukhumvit but can travel.

Best place would be any Trump thread on TV.

(joke).

That you had to put (joke) is really scary

Seriously, I've never found any "safe" sharpener that gets within a light-year of the man on the bike.

Ours still comes round, but I'm sure he's not as regular as he was

you never know these days…hehe….bingo player insurance….

Could it be that OP's comment is a cryptic message?

Actually having realised, that his personal sword has gotten somewhat dull.
That being the case, Thai Ladies have ways and means to re-sharpen Farangs swords. So I was told.:sorry:
Cheers.

Bite the bullet and get your own electric sharpener.  I brought mine with me from the US.  A little pricey, but good for life.  I used to sharpen our knives manually with stones, but with more stainless steel that gets tedious.  Machine will do serrated knives, but I don't know if it can sharpen scissors.

Makes them sharp enough to shave my arm.

Don't know if the machines are available locally, but probably cheaper to buy from Amazon even if they are.  May need a transformer

He needs to eat more fibre.

I've always had the best results using Japanese water stones and manually sharpening the knife. I'm sure they're available in BKK. My kitchen knives are so sharp they slice sheets of paper cleanly....I believe you can buy them at Isetan. Many youtube videos show how to use them

Most local hardware shops sell decent stones.  I paid less than B200 for mine (2"X9") and it does a great job.

I seem to remember that the Meat Dept of Villa used to have a sharpening service.  maybe still?

Which Villa?

13.9108500 100.508500 ... we use this little shop ... but it's not a same day service. Just leave your stuff ... depends how busy he is as to how long it takes ...

Very good and cheap ... he shapens anything ... garden tools etc

I bought a cheap knife sharpening gadget in Chinatown for 100 baht.

I had low expectations of it but was desperate as the man on the bike stopped coming to our street.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this cheap gadget was better than the man and a lot quicker. Doesn't work well on scissors though.

After a quick sharpen you can hold up a sheet of paper and slice shred off it.

Only problem was I forgot to tell wifey I had sharpened everything so she cut her fingers rumaging around in the cuttlery draw.

That's the one I have and it works great- but it is imported.  Not a genuine Lansky, BTW)

Looks good, cheaper and ships from Thailand.

Or search Lazada for knife sharpener for a dozen other styles.

The Villa at Suk. 33.  That was 5 years ago.  Not sure if still offered.

www.maps.google.com

Type in the search exactly what numbers I posted and with the same space between the two groups ... if no luck let me know and I'll pm you exactly where...☺
