Ordered at the March 2015 Motor Show, arrived November 2015 and now is showing 19000Kms+

Overall we are very happy with it…

The early ones had three problems with supplier parts… (3.2Ltr)

Crankshaft Sensor … ours threw a ‘wobbler’ …  Ford changed it.

Rear engine oil seal … leaking slightly at first service … Ford changed it

Exhaust Oxygen sensor … ours hasn’t failed yet.

You can look at ‘Australian Ford Forum’ loads about Everest/Ranger etc … you will need a VPN

You can look up our fuel consumption at www.fuelly.com …look under Everest 2015, EVT+ is mine … anyway I use Jas21. You will note that I haven’t fueled up for some while … average 10Km/Ltr since new. MrsJ has been using her new car.

We have done a few long runs, including Phu Tub Boek (twice)and a ten day golfing holiday Ubon-Udon-Khon Kaen-Phitsanulok etc. The ride is very pleasurable, has been described as like a boat! I like the way it floats down the road.

I really like the engine sound when accelerating hard …. it has some sort of ‘noise generator’ to assist cabin quietness, and the cabin is quite.

The parallel park works very well … I use it quite often. It is a pity that it does not park itself end on as well.

I drive a lot in cruise control, I don’t need to read the newspaper on the rear seat of the car in front,  the new ones have adaptive cruise control as well as lane keeping.

No GPS but I prefer Maps.Google now …

I have to say that I haven’t driven any of the other body-on-frames. The EV gets the best write up but I think it is the most expensive also. Now I believe that you can get a good spec in 2WD and 2.2Ltr.

If you don’t want new, the year or so old price is quite attractive, if you can find a good one.

We will keep the EV for many years … we took out PPP and SSP

How long does implementation of the crank shaft rotor fix take?

I've scheduled my fix for tomorrow, but since then, other commitments happened. Don't know if I should reschedule or not.

Regards

Jerry

Just make sure that they have the part and that they have had approval from Ford to replace it.

I think that it is only a 2-3 hour job.

If they have any problem Monday is a holiday.

As they are changing it I assume that your engine misses sometimes, hangs onto a gear or even cuts out. If the engine cuts out the steering goes a bit heavy...

Thanks. Two to three hours should work out nicely.

Ford at Bangkok approved the change last Wednesday and the local shop has had the part(s) since Thursday.

Had a problem with inconsistent idle speed. It did cut out once with difficulty restarting. Initially thought it may have been dodgy fuel but the filter checked out okay when I got it home.

Yes, today's a holiday. The showroom's closed but the workshop's open. I'll risk being disappointed and have positive thoughts. Three esses and I'm good to go.

Three esses and I'm good to go. ☺ Mrs J understands the less polite version ... good luck with the work.

Mine was done at Ford Chaengwattana ... one of the Product Specialist there is called Angelo. English speaking and a very helpful guy. He even answers when  I 'LINE' him ... well most times ...

Lets have an update...

Implementing the fix took over four hours. Approaching lunchtime the mechanic was waiting for comments on the last set of measurements (after the change) sent to his guy in Bangkok. At that point, faced with a possible two hours of inaction I left them to it, because of other commitments.

Got a call last evening saying that it's now ready to be picked up. Most likely that'll happen Friday when I get back.

It was an intermittent problem. So, it'll be a while before I'm convinced it's fixed.

Four hundred kms from home, up in Phu Tub Beok hills!! whilst on holiday, mine started missing, holding the gear and then refusing to start.

Next day it started ok and cut out only once on the way home.

Took it to Ford but it was running okay at the time and they tested it and found nothing ... mechanic took it for a test run after and it cut out☺

Changed and no problem since. It was a common problem at that time due to supplier QC.

Have you had the rear engine oil seal checked ...check for a small amount of oil on the cover plate ...to confirm Ford will take the plate off and look ...

If you are not too big you can slide under to look ... or better still ask the wife to...

If you look at the topic on Australia Ford Forums you can see the pics I posted asking where to looksee to check...

Thanks for the confidence boost regarding the fix.

When I first got mine to Ford it was fine also. On checking, a shaft sensor detector error was detected. They re-aligned the detector and that error hasn't been seen since. It ran okay for a while before starting to struggle again, when idling.

Took it back to Ford. Ford Bangkok sent measuring equipment and instructions for the mechanic who reported his findings. Ford Bangkok then sent a new sensor assembly to be fitted. The new sensor was fitted and the mechanic had to report back with the new measurements. Ford Bangkok had to approve the repair. Which they did. So I have some confidence in the fix.

I got the impression there was a tolerance issue and that new rotors are screened to interface with the original measurements.

I took note from your earlier post and had the oil seal checked out on Monday. It was okay.

Thanks for helping.

Regards

Jerry
