Actually having had a 2nd and 3rd look at the video at the time of 18.07.40 where the driver beeped the horn shortly after, it is clear IMO that the black ute moved out of his way to the left (middle lane), however there was a ute in the far left lane merging (right) to the middle lane and going slower than the blck ute because the lane was ending and the black ute tries to hold his line, plus move over a little to the right, as you would, but the guy with the dash cam was travelling too fast and obviously having his blinkers on, you know the ones they give horses as to only see straight ahead, clearly not seeing what was going on because he was only interested in going through and passing every car possible at the speed he was doing in the right lane, i.e. not allowing room for movement for the black ute that originally moved over and out of the way for him, perhaps the black ute should have held his ground and not moved, pulling a knife on him is, well as I said previously, part of the small dick syndrome, should have just let it go.

But in my opinion, the guy with the dash cam is as much to blame for causing the incident, noting that he didn;t move over in the left lane when the black ute wanted to pass him towards the end, and obviously when the black ute pulled up in the right lane blocking him, not apologising for the guy with the knife, that's a definite no no, but just setting the record straight is anyone missed it. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I agree with this.....I saw the video and it's not someone "veering", but moving out of the way of another car when two lanes merge.  And the dash cam driver seems to be going too fast for safety, weaving back and forth through traffic giving other drivers little time to make decisions or react.

much outrage but i bet the police will do nothing

What can I say?

This imbecile wants to see his name as a senior member of the "uneducated wild animals"

We try to lighten-up the incidents but, as a bigbike rider, in the North, I know that every time I am on my bike, which is often, some local "UWA" will deliberately drive at me so they can overtake in the opposite direction

I'd be curious if it's easy to disconnect the car horn by ourselves.

I read it's illegal to do that because it's considered a safety device, but I'm not sure whether that law applies in Thailand too.

If it's easy to disconnect/connect by myself it would be easier when selling the car again and it's guranteed one does not inadvertently hoot the horn.

If you can find a hooter under a shirt you should be able to locate the hooter under the hood also.

Ask the one with the hooters in the shirt to take place behind the round thing inside the vehicle.

Open the hood if you can and ask her to push the hooter pad located in the middle of the round thing.

Something under the hood should start hooting(making a sound)locate this device and remove one of the two wires connected to it.You have to remove the correct wire other wise an explosion might happen.Good luck.

lol.

I guess you don't have any Thai friends.

Perhaps dcnx was only calling the two drivers i.e. of the black pickup and the vehicle with dash cam (because in the opinion of several people here, including myself, both drivers were in the wrong) "cavemen with cars", and not all Thai drivers as you seem to think.

I can't believe that the wife got out of the car with the kid, beckoning the camcar back towards them.  Looks like she wanted a bit of the action.  Then there's the driver with the machete.  What's up with these people!  Lockem both up!  The kid will be the same when he gets older; little wonder with role-models like that.

Confiscate his license and impound his car. Clearly the man in the black pickup should not be driving at all. He not only puts other road users on danger. He even puts his own family in danger. What kind of a man would endanger his own family.

Really pity the wife n kid, the were crying at him to stop n yet...

these Ferrell village people deserve each other...

How do you know he lives in a village? I live in a village, and I've never met a 'feral' one yet. Village people are usually pretty smart, when they are not singing YMCA.

I wonder if in such situation it would be ok to run over him? When someone threatens you with a knife or gun in front or your car. Would it count as self defence?

I doubt it. You're in a car after all. Only a moron takes a knife to a car fight.

By the way, was the kid waving a knife too?

The video is at least proof there is at least ONE mature thai driver on the roads.    (Cam car)

the driver of the cam car was by no means a mature driver.. all over the road.. changing lanes willy-nilly without indicating.. driving too close to the traffic in front and also overtaking people on the left hand side... as someone else already pointed out black pickup was attempting to get out of his way but blocked by a slower moving vehicle..

i am in no way defending the black pickup's drivers actions but please do not suggest any level of maturity from the cam car driver..

To be honest I know most of the Phang Khon police and they do have many good guys inside and they can't be compared to the cops in Bangkok.

My guess they will court the guy, arrest him and he pays a fine but then of course we don't know if he is connected. If he is connected he will be a monk for a few days, case closed. Its up to the courts and prosecution in Sawang D.D. really.

I think he also decreased speed after he did not let the black car merge, just to tease him.

Hmm, I couldn't see that, but that's something I would do if someone was peeing me off, slowing down in the right lane as they had done previously, revenge is bitter sweet 555

With a bit of luck the pressure of "Social Media" and "Dash / Car Cam" evidence this menace to society will get lifted, embarrassed in public and sent to the "Big House" for a few months . . . . We can only hope !

I lost all hope in all these years i live in LOS is has only worsened more and morons driving a car or motorcy these days.

Whatever the minor traffic infringements were in this incident, the fact remains that without any real provocation on his part, the driver with the cam could have construed it as a potential life-threatening incident, when a guy with a large knife approaches his vehicle in a menacing manner.

As such, perhaps he would have been justified in driving slowly at the knife-wielding moron and even bruising him or pinning him against his own pick-up until the police arrived?  Surely this would be a case of self-defence?

With the police arriving and saying, apologise and go free, remember this isn't the west, it's Thailand, and its all about losing face, suffice to say if the guy gets done, he will only have to apologise and walk, too much paperwork involved for the usual hot heads, no one died, besides, would you take on someone with a knife, well, if you did, I reckon you'd come off 2nd best.

I agree and also the Black ute driver would have been concentrating on the blue ute and not see the cam driver come up behind him so fast or that he was in his blind spot as he started his veer away from the blue ute.

Normally just give the cam driver the 'bird' not the knife  lol
