Zenni Glasses and Rutnin Eye Hospital

Featured Replies

I am a little careless with my glasses ... recently I lost a 'quite expensive' well to me anyway, pair of Varifocals, so having read several good comments about the company on this forum I decided to make an order. I did have my eyes examined/tested at Rutnin a few days prior.

That was actually my second eye exam at Rutnin, previous one done in March 2016 (cost 1420thb). This time I also had a visual field test as I have eye drops to keep the pressure acceptable (that was 1000thb). My total bill was 2370thb which I though was not exactly out of the way.

During the eye test, for glasses, it was pointed out that 'old pair' that I now use for driving , having lost my good glasses, required replacing. I have to admit that the new prescription was 'somewhat' better!

So I ordered a cheap pair plus clip on shades, for driving from Zenni on 23rd, just to see what they are like ...they arrived today and seem absolutely fine ...   I paid using my UK Debit Card, £21.36 (approx 25 times less than the pair I lost). I don't normally wear glasses except for Computer and reading and of course driving at night. I will most likely replace the varifocals as they are useful. In fact I could do with a  pair of glasses in every room in the house as I never know where I put them down!!!

I found everyone at Rutnin very helpful, you can walk in but if you want to see the Dr your saw previous then better to make an appointment.

Maybe the above is useful information for someone.

My wife lost her glasses, normally from Big C

It always stresses me because she is subjected to great pressure to buy and upgrade and upgrade again, and to bring it all down to reality I have to throw a fit and  walk out

We then buy what she needs, she only uses them for driving, not posing

This time we used zenni, absolutely wonderful, quick about two weeks and cost unbelievably low, ( just have to see wife does not know cost as she tends to judge by how much paid) also bought two pairs

I am happy for her to choose a couple more at these prices

God bless the internet, but thats not what the opticians say

As far as I know, and especially with varifocals, the location of your pupil has to be marked on the lenses to match the intermediate zone of the lenses.Simply because everyone eyes are different.

How do you do that with Zenni?

Any full prescription should include the PD - if not it is easy to do yourself or with someone else using a tape measure and fully explained on web site.

If getting an eye exam at Rutnin or any other facility, make sure you inform the ophthalmologist that you want a vision test and prescription including PD. Sometimes they do not include PD unless requested.

Good to read that the OP had a good experience with Zenni, as I did.  It really is a great alternative to the ridiculous prices charged by many optical shops here in Thailand.
