Ground collision delays Nok Air flights

THAI BUDGET airline Nok Air Saturday issued a statement warning passengers of possible delays and rescheduling due to a crash between one of its aircraft and a shuttle bus from another budget airline at Don Mueang International Airport on Friday night.

Both airlines confirmed that no one was injured in the crash.

According to the statement, the aircraft numbered HS-DBK was parked in the 35th pit at Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport on Friday night when a shuttle bus hit its front fuselage. While no one was injured, the incident caused some damage to the plane.

After the crash, the head of Don Mueang’s aircraft parking control, Nok Air technicians and ground officers were sent to inspect and collect evidence from the scene, notes the statement.

The airline was examining whether the damage had affected the main structure of the aircraft, which would be out of service until maintenance was completed and safety was ensured, Nok Air said.

Passengers have been cautioned that there might be delay or changes in flight schedules. In the statement, Nok Air also apologises for any inconvenience it might cause.

Air Asia, whose shuttle bus was involved in the accident, also issued a statement saying no one was injured in the crash which happened when the bus was off service and was carrying no passengers.

Air Asia said it was working closely with the airport and all involved agencies in examining the incident, for which it has apologised.

Are they using blind bus drivers at Don Mueang or something? How the hell can you not see a bloody plane parked in front of you?

If this had been 35 years ago or so then the plane he hit, when he first saw it, he thought was a Mirage

And yellow - not difficult to notice, even in the dark.

Or is this the airport bus driver who plays very very loud Essan music in the bus, more interested in having fun rather than careful driving.

"Now everything can fly" and the shuttle bus was cleared for take off.

I wonder if the insurance company will classify the accident as a "knock for Nok?" :cheesy:

Another brake failure?

I doubt they use blind bus drivers. As we see most days on Thai roads, there's plenty of physically fit bad drivers to choose from, without giving blind people a bad image.

Nok is dying anyway after the pilot debacle. I wonder how many days the driver will get off for HITTING A PARKED PLANE?  Texting?

If the forward pressure bullhead is damaged, long time out of service.

If not easy fix but rather expensive.

I forget where i've seen them but some of those shuttle buses for planes have blinded windows into the extreme.

You had ONE job...

Well we didn't really expect them to be any better than the millions of other idiot drivers out there, did we?

It's comical how there are buses running around transferring passengers to and from planes at DM! The airport sucks because nowhere near enough departure gates with direct access to plane !

And what also sucks is the lack of planning and predicting of infrastructure needs.
