Wiyada Jaram, 36, cries Friday while describing what she alleges to be a teacher’s ongoing abuse of her young son.

BURIRAM — The mother of an 8-year-old boy alleged Friday that he’s been singled out for physical and emotional abuse by his second-grade teacher for months.

Wiyada Jaram, 36, told reporters that her son has suffered months of abuse at the Tripoomvitaya School in the northeastern province of Buriram, alleging the teacher has gone so far as to threaten harm to any children who sit with him at lunch.

A Thai in a position of power bullying those beneath them??

Shocking.

How else can you prepare kids for Thai life if you don't give them a first class education in bullying?

Start by ordering them about and never allowing them to question their superiors or betters and then demonstrate the power of the methodology by bullying a few well chosen runts from the class.

The Thai education system is sick - toxic even.  Research has long extablished the fact that most child victims of abuse become child-abusers themselves when given the opportunity.  There are very few checks and balances in Thai schools to prevent its occurrence. Many "traditional" practices in the Thai system - even up to and including university level - would be classified as assault or abuse in most cultures..

"At first, I believed the kid. He brought me the stick he said he was beaten with and even brought friends as his witnesses. I asked the teacher, but she was really confused. It turns out that the mom made up the story to defame the teacher,” Kanok said."

BS.

I get that some people don't understand children, but if you're a teacher, that's your job. This kid is 8 years old. Just a kid. Never understood how some people can be so stupid/angry to hold ill feelings towards a child. It's a child who's constantly learning as he goes along.

We're not allowed to hit fellow adults, but it seems for some strange reason, it's okay to hit kids. The most defenceless, vulnerable and impressionable people around. The very people you shouldn't ever be hitting. Let's be honest - the people who hit their kids are just feckless, lazy and uneducated.
