LAMPANG: -- An elderly woman and her son have been living at an old school building in Lampang's Muang district and using tap water from a toilet after their ramshackle home collapsed in a storm in early June.

Chandee Pothanamsai, 68, told the Military Circle 32's community relations team that local community president Tharathorn Sapkham had allowed her and son to temporarily stayed at the building at Ban Spo Tui School as no progress had been made in rebuilding her home despite about Bt40,000 being donated for that cause.

Her son performs odd jobs so they can eat, she said.

Tharathorn told the PR team he had been trying to raise money to help Chandee until the amount in her Government's Saving Bank account 02-022-106-5475 reached Bt48,000.

He said he was checking Chandee's late husband's ownership of the land where her house had stood.

He said he would rebuild the home as soon as possible.
