TAT launches Good Host Project

CHIANG MAI, 4 August 2017 (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister presided over TAT's Good Host Project, aimed at raising the standards of hospitality and tourism in Chiang Mai province.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Thanasak Patimaprakorn presided over the opening session of the Good Host Project and chaired a meeting to exchange opinions attended by over 500 people from hotel businesses, educational institutes, airline companies, Customs Department, government hospitals and tourism communities at the International Convention Center, Chiang Mai Grand View Hotel in Chiang Mai. He was welcomed by Chiang Mai governor Pawin Chamniprasart.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s Good Host Project is aimed at raising awareness among tourism stakeholders about the importance of being hospitable hosts to all visitors to Thailand, to strengthen the Kingdom's prospects as a world renowned tourist destination.

The Good Host Project is an initiative that provides extra training for public and private sector employees. The seminar will teach new ways of improving tourism products and services. Useful knowledge and practice training will be the key factors that the project employs to create a lasting impression for visitors beyond their initial expectations about visiting Thailand.

The Good Host Project in the North kicked off with a three-day training session, taking place from 2-3 August 2017.

Perhaps TAT should first learn how to become good hosts b4 setting up events like this as all they are teaching is how to become a bad host if their record is anything to go by.

3 days training in 2 days - is this a new high speed trend in Thailand?

Did they instruct the owners to teach their employees to be sullen and unsmiling.  However, from my experience, the noodle shops where the employees are the most sullen tend to serve the best noodles.  Go figure.

In the meantime hordes of Chinese are carrying out illegal homestay depriving the hotels and guest houses of business and the authorities are doing nothing.
