There was a recent thread about Ford's catching fire and it was not mentioned about BMW's catching fire.

Wasn't aware BM's had air-suspension is it an extra.

Nah - comes standard three days in many models. I bought a 2 year old Range Rover once, never ending saga with the air suspension and was so happy when I go rid of it. Not sure I would have bought this car if I knew it had air shocks - but that’s where many cars are heading these days

Good news - can buy them direct from China manufacturer @ about 15% of the price at which they are sold here

Enough dealers in Bangkok who can work on BMWs...No need to worry. In any case, I couldn't source them in Thailand...

Better buy double the amount of those cheap, Chinese copies then and be prepared to swap them out a whole helluva lot sooner than the OEM ones (which are made in the same Chinese factory as the alieexpress 'specials' but have passed inspection and test).

103K Km out of a set of shocks is pretty good I would think especially on thai roads. But hey buy an expensive car and you buy expensive parts too.

Yep

@ Nanlaew - My nephew who works for Benz said the same about Chinese shocks

I don't recall I paid anywhere near 100k for my 7 series. But Yikes!

I guess this just applies to older cars. BMW now has unlimited mileage warranty, though BSI is only 60,000km (BSI is not the warranty - its a service agreement)

https://www.bmw.co.th/en/topics/offers-and-services/personal-services/bmw-service-inclusive.html

I was there a few weeks back - they said no more support after BSI anymore

Pay as u go

Yea, they changed the warranty scheme from 100K to unlimited a couple of years ago.

If you but a high end ride you really must expect high end fix costs for the "tech" used...:stoner:

Unlimited means what ?

Unlimited is unlimited, but some people mentioned 200K.  I am not sure to be honest. If you drive 110km every single day in 5 years,  that would equal 200,000 km.. So I guess even its limited to 100K, its "almost" like unlimited ;)

I dont think 100K for brand new air shocks sounds expensive. A set of proper coilovers for any brand costs around that.

Just realized its each side.. Well, then I guess quite expensive :D

Sorry that should be limited to 200K, not 100K.

So our Isuzu truck with air-shock are a 1/4 or 1/8 the cost of the truck, OK thanks.
