Locked computer holds key to possible murder case, parents of missing woman tell police

The parents of a Thai woman who has been missing for over two years filed a request on Friday with the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) to re-investigate her missing person case, as they suspected her Israeli boyfriend – a suspect in another murder case of a male compatriot last November in Pathum Thani – might be involved.

Anan Saeng-urai and wife Napa Timyen lodged a request with Pol Lt-Colonel Soneuk Santipatanant to probe the 2015 disappearance of their daughter Nanthiya Saeng-urai, who was with Yaakov Shimon Sakira Bitton, 50, at the time.

The Israeli man was charged with premeditated murder after the body of Eliyahu Cohen, a 63-year-old Israeli policeman, was found buried under freshly poured concrete at Bitton's rental home in Nonthaburi.

That body was found just three days after Cohen had been reported missing. Bitton reported owed Cohen money. Bitton’s teenage son reportedly implicated him for killing Cohen and concealing the body under concrete pavement.

Anan said that the teenage son of Nanthiya and Bitton had told him the clue to his mother’s disappearance could be found in CCTV footage on the notebook computer police confiscated as part of the Bang Bua Thong police investigation into Cohen's murder.

Anan said police officers had told him they couldn't yet open the computer, as it required an Israeli password.

Anan said he believed his daughter was already dead and Bitton might be involved because he gave him inconsistent accounts about Nanthiya's whereabouts.

Anan said Bitton at first claimed Nanthiya was arrested in Laos and later said she had died from cancer. He therefore wanted police to check the seized computer for footage that would back their grandson’s claim that the couple had a fight before Nanthiya disappeared.

Parents of missing woman convinced she was murdered by Israeli now tell of bizarre head shaving ritual

The parents of Nanthiya Saeng-urai who disappeared two years ago are convinced that she died at the hands of her estranged husband Shimon Bitton, 50.

Earlier today they implored police to reopen the case that has gone cold. Shimon was arrested last year for the murder of  Eliyahu Cohen, 63, who was found dead under the stairs at Bitton's house in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi.

At the time the parents of Nanthiya, Anan Saeng-urai and Napa Timyen, wanted the Israeli investigated in connection with her disappearance.

But the police have not proceeded in the matter despite some effort being made to locate her last year.

Now the parents have revealed new details and suspicions.

They believe that Shimon was a control freak - he demanded that Nanthiya completely shave her head in what he said was a Jewish custom.

She was forced to wear a wig in public, said the concerned parents.

Later, in details that came out last year and were reported by Thaivisa, Shimon told the parents that she had been arrested on drugs charges in Laos.

After that he claimed that she had died of cancer. But there was no body to prove this.

With no contact for two years the parents said they fear that their daughter is lying dead somewhere and that Shimon is to blame.

It should not be that hard to unlock that hard drive, even if it does require an Israeli password.  There are many tools that can bypass that formality.  However, I doubt the BIB IT department is up to it.  But a freshman college IT major should be able to handle it.  Even high school, probably.

that effort took all the drive out of the police force, who collectively slumped back on couch, grunting and breathing hard.

I don't know what could be worse in life than losing a child or loved one and never knowing the truth.

Some people are just so cruel.

For someone who's username is realenglish1, you're not very good at comprehending it yourself.

Read the article again. It's quite clear.

LOL Israelis have moved on and built an empire. Strand leaves can be found in each and every society around the globe.

There are so many unclear and contradicting statements coming for the parents and police investigation yielded nothing so far.

Moreover, the "Custom" they refer to, is reserved to the most extreme and orthodox of Jews and he is not even close to be 1 of them.

seeing your location I assume its jealousy of the Democratic freedom applied speaking out of you... SAD

If anyone dares to criticize Israel or jews, on TV they get censored.

If anyone criticizes Western countries, or any other religions or races, they don't get censored.

Why is this so?

The one thing for certain that's not clear from the OP is what's become of the original murder case/charge against this Israeli guy for allegedly killing one of his countrymen. The article never says whether the actual court case was filed, has there been a trial, has there been a verdict, or even if the guy is or isn't in custody in connection with that. Clueless.

Am I the only one who thinks this is odd? "She was found dead under his stairs". "He said she died of cancer but there was no body". "The parents fear she may be lying dead somewhere".

Not saying it is the case here because I have no idea.

But it is actually quite simple to encrypt the contents on a storage drive so that no one (well... certainly not you or I) will ever be able to access the data.

The other English language newspaper says that the police have seen the evidence on the computer but that it has not yet been translated.

Seems that something has been lost in translation somewhere.

Alfalfa19 should be a lot more careful about statements like this.   Having worked with both US and Thai officials over the last 25 years I know they record all social comments and create profiles for displaced farangs who really should be relieved of duty in Thailand.

Furthermore, I can confirm, the Royal Thai Police won't have any trouble getting into that computer.  They are actually quite proficient at all aspects of policing.

HIghly suggest people who harbor such a low view of Thailand and the powers to be, really ought to find a new place to live before they get in serious trouble.  Just wait til they have a reason to get into your computer.  Nuff said.
