No idea who you researched re Veneers in Thailand but you are suggesting prices twice as much as what they are !

As a note of caution I visited an established dental practice in Bangkok and they said I needed extensive and urgent dental treatment. I decided to get 2 further opinions, both gave a different prognosis ,maybe 70 per cent less work/cost.

Be careful out there.................

Amazing prices Im from Australia & I don't see any difference in the quality of work at my local

I had a big Crown fitted a while back (still have ) for 4500 bht so lets double that over a 5 yr or so period = 9000 bht = $360

much less then their graph

If you're a tourist, be sure to get a quote at home before you get your teeth done in Thailand , during your vacation. Especially if you choose a clinic that caters specifically to foreigners, the savings might not be enough to justify doing it abroad.

I'm not sure where they got the prices from but I had a crown fitted here in the North about 4  weeks ago cost me 9000baht for the top quality did some checking re Australia prices and while sometimes it is hard to do an exact comparison the cost was around 80,000 baht up

The dental treatment here is as good as anything I have received in Australia however the dentists are much better looking ( women that is)

i always get dental treatment done at home, it may be a little more expensive (maybe i'm lucky i can afford it) but i have peace of mind and i know it will be done by an qualified professional.

from my experience the prices quoted in the table (no source for the information provided) are certainly not correct for the UK - way more than anything i've ever paid.

Elite Smile at Pantip Plaza in Chiang Mai has equipment the equivalent of anything state of the art I've seen in Australia. I've had two implants there, with one more to come. About a third of the cost in Australia, and an Australian dentist said it was top quality work.

One does have to be careful with some of the clinics that claim to do implants over a few days. When I questioned the dentist at Elite Smile, he smiled and said his failure rate on implants was about 3%. Failure rates on the rush jobs are about 40%.

Are you suggesting the dentists here are not qualified professionals?

On what basis do you form that view?

I too could afford to pay Australian fees but I am not going to fly back for treatment that I can have here of the same standard

Perhaps I am fortunate that I know a person who is in charge of a dental clinic in a government hospital and have observed the training from my observations it is excellent

I have had; fillings, cleaning, crowns, root canal, braces and an implant done in Thailand. Cost has been around 40%  of what I would pay in Australia for work of the same standard. I started out with simple fillings and was happy with the quality of the work and proceeded with more advanced procedures.

The dentist I went to actually talked me out of some work I wanted doing, telling me my own teeth were better than crowns and why did I want to spend so much money.

Whilst Thailand is cheaper its not as cheap as it used to be and greater savings can be made in Vietnam or Cambodia for the more adventurous. I am very happy with my current dentist in Bangkok and will probably stay with them but if I wasn't with them already there are a couple of possibilities in Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City which would be even cheaper.

Does Australia have dental care as part of their National Health Service? Does your 40% refer to full price or to net price?

There is some form of public dentist but you need to qualify and waiting times are long. Medical insurance policies usually offer some form of dental cover but it probably won't stretch to covering the full cost of major work. Australian dentists are amongst the most expensive in the world.

Thai prices are 25% for simpler work up to 50% for specialist procedures using imported materials. I find generally that a mixed bag of work will come out at about 35-40% of Aussie prices.

Thank you,I understand now.

In my home country Belgium I can freely choose any dentist I like, and the Health service  will pay most of the bill. Everybody is covered, everybody pays into it.

That way it is much cheaper for me in Belgium than in Thailand., and also for my wife who is Thai.

I can speak from Experience about Thai medical treatment,

I was ill two years ago, i paid for an Hospital examination, In Bangkok, after blood tests and a wait of about 4 hours the results came back from the Doctor, He said not a lot wrong with me, he had checked for Malaria, and Dengue, No problems, he gave me 20 vitamin pills and three isotonic drinks.   After a few more weeks of being off my food and being tired and delirious, My wife took me to a Government Hospital, they admitted me immediately, They took blood and did some tests, two hours later, i was diagnosed with Leukemia, Which was correct,  So just becasue you pay more in a Big posh Building does not mean anyhting , Nor do Certificates on the wall, The Key thing is the Government should have a standard checking system the public could go on and check the Doctors and dentist credibility.

Yes, my experience is scared and pretty much Insanity on the missed diagnosis.

Telling me I have a life time disease, which turn out to be a big lie.

Pretty piss poor I think very sad your life is virtually on the line here.

Good luck and prayers for all of us.....

Thankyou,  I am ok ,  It's all under control not life threatening yet,

My point was that there are many dentists and doctors and clinics in Thailand, BUT are they all qualified, Britain and many other Countries are crying out for Doctors and dentist, probably with a better lifestyle and pay cheque than they would get in Thailand, So maybe the standards are not high enough, And i am not saying all Thai  or Asian Doctors are not Qualified,  I think the System of checking the Qualifications  should be more  accessible to the Public, and regulated by Governments and the World health authority.

My wife had a check up at a local small private hospital. On the basis of a blood test she was diagnosed with osteoporosis. They sold us a lot of medecine for it.

Shortly after that we travelled to Belgium and asked a Belgian doctor for a second opinion.

He told us that it is technically impossible to discover osteoporosis on the basis of a blood sample.

Doctors in Thailand are like all other experts here: it is difficult to know if they are real or just scammers that  bought their diploma.

Even if only 10% are fakes, I will never trust any of them again.

It would appear that you have formed the view that no one with a medical degree in any field in Thailand is qualified to practice or treat patients

Unfortunately we live in a less than perfect world and while we expect all professionals particularly  doctors to be perfect it is not the case

Myself and my family have received excellent medical and dental treatment in Thailand but I am realistic enough to accept that mistakes occur for a variety of reasons but I do not accept that Thailand is any worse than any other comparable country

I am aware of many mistakes being made in Australia and had a friend who had a surgical instrument left in her abdomen

I also read a report last year about the number of avoidable deaths that occur in UK hospitals, the figure was staggering

Doctors are human and they make mistakes and they misdiagnose

As a child in the UK I received severe burns to my neck resulting in treatment at a government hospital

The subsequent skin grafts were botched resulting in me requiring many further painful operations for the earlier treatment to be rectified

The doctors who carried out the original operations were obviously not competent to carry out their role while the subsequent doctors who were excellent were

Thailand does not have a monopoly on bad doctors
