A Cambodian infant was killed and several other Cambodian migrant workers were injured when an apparently overloaded passenger van in which they were travelling from Narathiwat bound for Sakaew province ploughed into a roadside ditch in Kui Buri district of Prachuab Khiri Khan early Sunday morning.

The van driver, identified as Sorae Suenee, was also seriously injured in the accident which occurred in Tambon Kok Kien, Kui Buri district.

Among the passengers was Solae Sarakasom who claimed to be an immigration officer in Narathiwat and he said he was taking all the 19 Cambodian migrant workers to the immigration office in Sakaew province.

The Immigration Police is transporting 19 migrant workers in a car designed for maximum 14 people? Not amazing at all that people sit on the back of pick-up trucks and believe that is okey.

They should know better. Shame on them!

Dangerously overloaded van and an immigration officer.  Hope he gets punished for his lack of good sense.  Since the coup, immigration has become exceptionally brazen in a government that answers to no one.

Among the passengers was Solae Sarakasom who claimed to be an immigration officer in Narathiwat and he said he was taking all the 19 Cambodian migrant workers to the immigration office in Sakaew province.

However, Pol Lt-Col Komsan Masiri, deputy superintendent of Kui Buri police, doubted Solae’s statement because, normally, a police bus would be used to carry a large number of illegal migrant workers to the border and the vehicle would be locked for security.

Methinks possibly that Solae Sarakasom is either an imposter, or is an officer moonlighting in the trade of illegals.....

Only 19???
Shame, shame on you, driver. 20 more inside would be normal standards on transporting Cambodians...

The Immigration Police are not transporting migrant workers, it seems that one enterprising officer may be though, big difference, read the link.

I have read the link. May I suggest that you get some life experiance before making an assumption, telling people what to do. My first suggestion would be looking for water beyond your ears.

You read it?  Then why did you suggest that the Immigration Police, not one officer, were up to no good?

"May I suggest that you get..."

No, you may not make that suggestion because it's a daft one, not to say a hypocritical one.  You want to instruct me not to tell you what to do while at the same time you give yourself the ok to tell me what to do.  Interesting position you have elevated yourself to.

You're assuming that I do not have any life experience (whatever that means that would be relevant here) but, even if you were not wrong in that assumption, how would my having that experience make me better qualified to suggest that you read something that, either, you didn't read, and reading it would have helped you understand the circumstances, or you deliberately twisted in order to have a go at the Immigration Police Dept as a body.

When you made up that expression about looking for water beyond my ears what profundity did you think you were making?  Maybe you ballsed it up by thinking it was a clever way of stating (again wrongly) that I am wet behind my ears?

First, I did not have a go at the Immigration Police. You are blowing up things to enormuos proportions.
What I said was that Immigration Police are transporting people. That was not wrong, was it? I was clearly an Immigration Police doing it, right?

As I see it. If there is a working and functional system, this can not happen due to that there is something called control. In that case the department and the system silently let this happen. What does that mean to you?

The elevation you are mentioning, is just a dream made up by you. I guess you just feel small for not understanding what you talk about.

Yes, you did have a go at the Immigration police, quote, "What I said was that Immigration Police are transporting people".  That was wrong, the article clearly explained that it was not the Immigration police, it was one officer, who was being investigated.

You do not know that "the department silently let this happen", that is just your unfounded speculation and the Immigration Dept has already denied that the incident happened with the Dept's knowledge.

Re your last paragraph, you guess wrong, not surprisingly.

He said he would check with the immigration office in Narathiwat to find out if the office had assigned any immigration officer to accompany a group of Cambodian migrant workers to Sakaew.

Option A: Solae Sarakasom is a rogue Immigration Officer who will be investigated, sacked and imprisoned.

Option B: Standard Operational Procedure in the border region. But, Solae Sarakasom failed to complete his mission and will now have to keep his head down until the whole thing blows over.

As the accident, police suspected that the driver might have fallen asleep momentarily while driving.

Nothing new there.

RIP little one. You were hardly worth a mention in this TPBS report. We will probably never even know your age, gender or name.
