Four teens arrested for beating 17-year-old boy to death over Bt500

By The Nation

Police have arrested four teens for allegedly beating a 17-year-old boy to death after he failed to pay back a Bt500 debt.

Pol Maj-General Sompong Chingduang, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said police were still hunting for three teenagers who allegedly took part in the Friday night killing on Sitthichai Moolraj, who was working at the Mambo Cabaret Show on Yannawa Road in Bangkok’s Yannawa district.

Sompong on Tuesday led police with two of the four detained teens, both 18, to re-enact the alleged crime, while the other two juvenile suspects were not brought to the scene.

The two suspects told police that one of them had become angry and used a stick to hit Sitthichai seven or eight times after he returned Bt1,000 of a Bt1,500 debt.

The victim fled inside the cabaret and died of a severe neck injury.

One of them had become angry? Over 500 baht. RIP.

No sense of proportion, no sense of judgement, no sense of fair play.

And no sense of right and wrong / what behaviors are acceptable and not acceptable.

Thais avoid confrontation at all costs. I've read it in all the tourist brochures so it must be true.

To say it with the words of Mark Moran, a character from the first Underbelly series: ''What's the point of offing someone who owes you money?''

R.I.P.!!!

Hopefully family wont accept an apology and a wai !

Family wont do a thing, not even compensation, scared as they are that 8 families has a couple of 'hot heads' in their ranks.

It is just pure and simple pack murder.

a couple of years we see them back, after being loudly convicted for life.

While in Indonesia a women is in for the death sentence over a tramadol case which really belonged to her husband but were in her bag.......strange world.

No sense..................full stop!

poor poor boy .... he had no one to help him.  I hope the perpetrators are placed in custody for a few years at least ...

thais  deal with emotions and anger in a passive manner, but seem unable to control rage..but then ''who can''??

I just wonder if the loan had been 1500 baht or if it was through a 'loan shark' and 1500 was due because of massive interest charges....... AND ALSO if those gang of boys were 'Debt Collectors'..... TIT....

Fair Play?

What has that got to do with four idiots killing someone?

Put those idiots away for the rest of their lives.

Good example for the other idiots.
