The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), an agency responsible for the operations of rapid transit systems in Bangkok and other provinces, will take legal action by asking the court to order the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), the city bus agency, to move 84 NGV buses out of its land.

Rithika Suparat, acting governor of the MRTA, said he last week sent a letter to ask the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to file a lawsuit for the court to order the BMTA to move 84 NGV buses out of its land on Rama IX Road in Huay Khwang district.

The land is intended for the construction of a maintenance and repair centre of the electric trains for the Orange Line (Thailand Cultural Centre – Suwinthawong).

This is completely ^%^^$g insane!

Bangkok is screaming for better buses and these gems are rotting in some yard, costing millions, while the boffins squabble.

Meanwhile, Thailand struggles to get past developing nation status!

But it's an excellent cautionary tale for anyone wanting to invest to open a business in Thailand.  And not in a good way.

If they can't figure out public buses and fire trucks (in 10+ years), what chance does a foreign owned business have if they get sideways with some Thai government entity?

At least someone is switched on, Invest here you might as well flush your bank balance down the loo or burn it. Only 84 now, so someone stole 16 as there where supposed be 100. A German, Australian and Hong Kong companies will tell you all about investment here one word don't.

Too many acronyms in this story,

Those busses will all have a flat section in their tyres where they are sinking into the car park.

And the cheap chinese grease on the wheel bearings will be rock hard so the bearings will fail after a few hundred k's the pads will be rusted to the discs and the batteries will be bone dry and only good for small boat anchors.

The are 84 buses visible on Google Earth with two obvious empty slots.........Mmmm....my suspicious mind.

Someone in authority has got a couple of new, NGV-powered party buses tricked out somewhere -- complete with the redone Thai mural exterior painting, booming sound system inside and a couple of chrome poles, front and back???
