Deputy police chief: Almost all massage parlours in capital breach the law

You should really get your mind out of the gutter and stop being a judgemental idiot because not all massage parlours are the brothels that you must visit.

I know many that are exactly what they are and that is massage parlours plus I also know many women that work in them, my wife included

Thai men go to Karaoke bars for their fun.

Most of the customers of these 'high-end' places are Thai and they are frequently used as venues for business meetings as many of them have salubrious bars, lounges and restaurants...and not so many foreigners.

Thailand: 45 years+ the epicentre of boom boom and pam pam in the *world*. But these guys discover it anno 2018. Hilarious.

They haven't just discovered the services on offer, they have just discovered that some of the places may be accessing groundwater illegally.

Oh this is beyond pathetic - almost all massage parlours breach laws... for having "... more service rooms than permitted,... at least five of them pumped groundwater for use without permission..." Seriously???

By the way, I thnk the headline should read 'Almost All Massage Parlours Registered to Wirathepsuporn... "

Because it seems the authorities are on a witch hunt for him/her/them.

On the basis of 80 examples, and presumably of the "soapy" type because how much water do "normal" massage shops use, the conclusion is that "almost all" massage establishments are non conforming? And do they count each curtained area as a separate "room"?

Sounds like a bid to up the ante.

Not sure what line we are talking here.

Almost all are breaking the law, I would have expected every single one was in some way, as they are operating as brothels.

Or the fact is the laws they have broken pertain to pumping ground water, or having too many service rooms or are using non approved, non- government brand condoms of the wrong colour. Or is it perhaps that they all do it so let us not victimise a select few, leave it on the table please.

Focus, ........... under aged staff.

The DPC is talking about soapies, not the regular massage shophouses you see everywhere with cheap Thai and oil massage available.

does the deputy police chief really! REALLY? believe that foreigners go to the parlors just for a massage? for that matter does he think the thai's go there for the same reason? I think not!

I don't know if you experience a good massage but I know many places that are completely legit. One in particular has many returning foreign customers and I know there is nothing extra on offer. I, personally, wish there was, but the massage is expertly done and with a smile.

Hey, can anyone tell me what happened to that string of parlors off soi 11 and soi 13?, most of them in walkways by the Villa supermarket and the Ambassador Hotel. I leave town and come back and maybe 20 of them are gone.

Why should I do that when I was asking the poster who made that claim (that he cannot back up), not you?  You couldn't back it up either.

I didn't think it'd be necessary to spoon feed you, given it's a current news item...

Clearly it's you who needs to be 'spoon-fed'.

The link that you provided confirms that the neither the Government nor any of it's departments owns any massage parlours.  By default, courtesy of AMLO, the Finance Ministry became the owner of less than 2% of the shares of the Davis Group that are to be sold.

Owning shares of any registered or public company makes me an owner of that company. I get dividends and distributions the same as every other owner. If I have voting shares, then I get to vote as well. Not having "controlling interest" does not make me any less of an owner. How I obtained those shares does not make me any less of an owner. I believe this is the reason someone in the FM woke up and decided it was time to unload those shares. And rightly so.

"Owning shares of any registered or public company makes me an owner of that company".

It doesn't, it makes you a part owner through an ownership of shares regardless of how you "feel" about it.  It you think that the Finance Ministry's owning of between 0.5% and 2% of a company is "owning the company" you need to think again and how the Ministry acquired it's shares is very relevant to the type of (lack of) ownership it temporarily has.

By the way, the Finance Ministry does not get dividends from it's (default) owning of less than 2% of Davis.

Ignoring reality does not change it

Your genius knows no bounds. I never knew that how one obtained shares in a company changed those shares into some new type of stock. I guess they might be called "unpreferred shares"? And I was unaware that if I owned less than 2% of the shares of a company that I was not entitled to dividends or distributions. Twenty five years trading on Wall Street, and I still have a lot to learn from TVF. Who knew?

Of course they are illegal as they are a cover for a knocking shop

The Entertainment Act licences massage places (soapies), as well as gogos, and includes the provision of additional services by over-18s. If they abide by the terms of their licence they can operate legally.

I didn't say that.

Didn't say that either.
