An iguana goes to the mall…

image.png

PATTAYA:--His owner’s shop has moved, but an iguana who once called Pattaya’s Avenue galleria home still likes to hang out there.

The 9-year-old male reptile named Jaow Toong Gnuen belongs to tattoo artist Prasert Thosa-gnuan, who once had an outdoor kiosk at the Second Road mall.

His iguana had the run of The Avenue and became used to people and became friendly enough so that he posed for photos.

But Prasert moved his shop out of the mall to a nearby sidestreet. Jaow Toong Gnuen, however, liked the mall and continues to come back during the day, sunning himself on the concrete and posing for more selfies.

But the smart iguana knows where his bread is buttered and returns home at night to eat and sleep.

I didn't know iguanas liked bread an butter.

Beautiful creature.  It just shows that hanging out on the streets of Pattaya attracts all sorts!

Excuse my ignorance but what's that lumpy bit on the side of his neck---------- what a fantastic creature

Just next to the dewlap? That'd be his subtympanic shield - a very fine example.

Magnificent. Now if we could just swap the way the the bloke and the girl are squatting we'd really have a photo.

Iguanas are good eating. I have eaten many times. Don't tell the Crocodile Dundee types where it is or it may end up having a very short life.

Per hectare the Brazilian rain forest can produce more protein if Iguanas were farmed than it can if it is cut-down for cattle grazing. Now if McDonald's would start serving  Iguana burgers...!
