A female dog got entangled in a football net in Rayong’s Banchang district on Tuesday and could not free herself.

Banchang police sergeant Chamrat Polyiam alerted a rescue centre to a brown dog he found caught on a football field in front of his police station.

The officer told the rescuers that he had tried to free the dog himself but it panicked and in struggling to free itself had only tightened the net around its neck even more and appeared to have difficulty breathing.

When the rescuers arrived and approached the dog it growled at them, so they had to loosen the net from some distance until its head and legs were freed and it was able to run away.

Chamrat said that the animal seemed exhausted, as if it had been trapped there for some time.
