"....the meek will never inherit the earth

....because they dont want it"

(fforbes-Hamilton to the parish Vicar)

There is nothing new about this latest corruption scandal. just the other day i was asking a Thai friend why the Thais dont revolt over the 30% that disappears from every budget or gov contract'

He said...nothing.

Nothing will ever change in LOS unless todays children go into politics and  make a difference.

Won't happen because when they see the mountains of cash they will steal it too.!!

The way this would normally be done is to give out irrevocable credit notes to the registered recipients which they could then take along to any government bank to exchange for cash. There is no need for poor people to own a bank account.

Don't you guys get it yet?? The country is stagnant in its development and implementation of systems of any kind of sophistication relating to banking finance and money in general. Look at all the policies, rules and implementation processes. Clarity traceability and transparency has always been rejected by the old school on the basis that certain peoples hands are NOT caught in the trough of corruption. They can only ensure their liability and safety and freedom of prosecution from plundering funds by operating a system they know. These thieves fear anything they can't control and manipulate by their status or connections. So anything that will likely produce an unequivocal trail of evidence will be rejected. If you merely want to know what corruption is being conducted by who, just look at all major funding authorised side before the last war and follow the Monet trail. It would horrify the most innocent person where all this leads. Maybe a good reason why history of Thai politics is never looked into closely by academics.

All this came about because one junior government employee refused to 'toe the line' and keep quiet about corruption in Her department. If only more employees would speak out, and be protected by law for having done so, then corruption would be dealt a very serious blow in Thailand.

Sad to say but you can bet this concerned government employee will dissapear shortly as a warning to anyone else that might want to do the same. Committed suicide and found with 15 stab wounds in her back and hanging off a public bridge with her hands tied behind her back but committed suicide because she brought shame to the Gov officials,

I wouldn't call 67 Million baht missing an anomaly. Out and out disgusting graft would seem a little more accurate.

I hope the evil lowlifes that nicked it get their just rewards and the cash confiscated, though a posting to an inactive post is sadly all the punishment realistically likely.

Even if they find the money the chances are it will go missing again before it gets back to its rightful place.

You're so naive.

What would poor people do with money? They've never had any and really don't understand it. Let's be honest if you gave them money they would probably buy an expensive bottle of red wine and wouldn't even know you have to put ice cubes in it.

The soles of their feet are now so hard they probably wouldn't feel comfortable wearing shoes now so where is the need?

They are happy being poor and if you give them some money it will all be spent in a couple of days and they will be poor again. It would just make them unhappy.

Surely if I keep the money I can buy a new benz next year that uses less gas so that would be good for the country and the atmosphere, so in a way it means they will have cleaner air to breathe and that's good isn't it?

Sarcasm alert. Just in case.

ice in wine is news to me too, elaborate ?

Ok. I'll type this slowly.

The last 5 words in the post will give you a clue.

Or, I've seen so called rich Hi-So here pay a lot of money for a bottle of wine and instead of cooling it in a wine bucket they actually put ice cubes in their glass.

Got it??

The world has changed and unfortunately we will not see the likes of Alf Garnett on TV again.
