I have nothing to offer in helping you do this, but this is one of the most interesting ideas I've seen posted here in a while.

I have the impression that a lot of the racehorses in this part of the world (thinking Singapore, HK) originated in Australia.

ThaiPolo often bring in polo horses from Argentina so suggest checking with them. There's also a 1 month (I think) quarantine period imposed.

Bringing a Racing Horse from Mexico to Thailand:

You're looking at 20-30 hours total travel time depending on how long the stopover is assuming Mexico City to Bangkok. http://www.prokerala.com/travel/flight-time/from-mexico-city/to-bangkok/

I assume you own a race horse in Mexico. Otherwise, there's other places to bring race horses from that are much closer. Riyadh to Bangkok - close to ten hours. See International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing http://www.ifahr.net/

Japan also has a horse racing industry. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2016/08/20/more-sports/horse-racing/inside-japans-racehorse-breeding-empire/#.WrhldJe-nIU

Depending on your investment and type of ownership in a Mexican-based race horse (if that's the case), you might also consider selling or trading it for a horse from the Middle East or Asian regions.

You are being serious or just having a go with us???  First off, a racing horse???  That would be a thorobred or a quater horse shipped to Thailand for what purpose???  Surely you cant be that daft to think you could actually race it in Thailand.  The shipping cost for a single horse would be at least 15K to 20K from the U.S. and that's assuming you could find a horse transport company willing to do that.  Since this is Thailand you would have to put the horse in a Thai's name to even stand a chance to ever see it on a racetrack.  As for winning a race, good luck as here in Thailand it's who is the biggest fish in the race that predetermines the outcome of every race.  Bottom line, you were having a go and have more brains that to try doing this folly.

Yes, there are regular horse-cargo flights from Australia and NZ to HK and Singapore, especially now just after the yearling sales. Also, stallions are flown between Aus and NZ to/from GB and USA for the breeding season in each hemisphere.

I have a race mare and a yearling in Australia and would love to race a horse here. But the cost of transport, stabling and training would be very high and the nearest race course is 90 km away.

Thaiphuket:  Let us know how you get on in the future here and where in Thailand would you race?

IRT also transport horses worldwide.

Quarantine is one of the topics that I would get informed.

The other one of course is customs handling.

I have absolutely no idea about both topics.

Transport is probably the easiest topic (not considering cost).

And as already written, a very long transport.

Mexico is almost as far from Thailand as can be.

A passenger trip would be 24 hours and more with at least one stop/plane change.

I suspect that a big animal transport needs longer,  more time needed for transit.

You are right.  Last trip to T'land, I sat beside a Mexican.  He had to fly to Europe (in this case Paris) to get a plane to B'kok.  He'd been going for hours.  And for 2 weeks holiday!

Thank you all for your views. In ThVisa one can always expect some substantiated contributions. Supporting and rejecting views make a brainstorming productive.

More research is needed. That is the only conclusion for now.

The trainer of champion mare Winx,  C. Wallet has announced her racing plans have changed and will now travel to Thailand to race.  A specially arranged flight from Mexico to Bangkok that is having a fuel stopover in Melbourne has been arranged. She will join champion racehorse Nudge from Mexico and race in four races in Thailand instead of contesting her 4th Cox Plate.

She will race in four races in Thailand. The Bangkok tuksin plate, The Khon Kaen cup, The Udon Thani rice bowl and Chiangmai rice stubble slipper.

The owner of Nudge who is presumably living in Phuket is delighted to take on Winx in Thailand.

I know somebody who recently imported two horses from Germany.

Well that is certainly lacking in any sort of detail, but good to know. Thanks!
