Manager reported that hordes of tourists were flocking to Hua Hin beach to take pictures as hundreds of rocks in the sea became visible.

Normally there are only a few exposed but right now it's a rocky seascape as the tide has gone out much further than usual..

A female trader said that it is a characteristic of Hua Hin and happens once a year in the lead up to Songkran.

This is not the first time the tide goes out that far.
A phenomenon is what happens rarely.
Go after the airport, towards Cha am,
you have big beaches and,
  during high tides,
there are lots of shells to eat on the spot. (your own picking)
Also, huge seashells stand out (those where we hear the sea!)
It is also on one of these beaches that we pick up the poutine by tens of pounds, in September, I think.
So the rocks, it's not uncommon.

I thought this was about an annual rock music festival and was quite excited to see if I could send a team to sell our products to the throngs of people!

After January the sea level sometimes is lower, and with the tides this time of year

it looks like this on is even lower so good to hear of this event.

The background of the phenomenon is that the moon does not have a constant distance to the earth. It varies between about 363,000 km and 405,000 km which is more than 10% change. As the tide is influenced basically from the moon the tide is the highest (and lowest) at full moon and in April when the moon is closest to the earth and there is an additional smaller impact from the sun.
