Video: Yet again! Car driver refuses to pull over for ambulance as heart patient struggles for life

Another video has been posted online that showed a white car - that looks like a Honda Civic - that would not pull over despite an ambulance behind with its siren wailing.

The poster of the clip - Itthikorn Butsara - said that there was a heart patient on life support systems in the ambulance who was in danger.

A similar situation occurred a couple of few weeks ago in which a red Suzuki Swift did not pull over. The patient died and the driver and passenger in the car were shown to be medical health professionals.

On this occasion getting on for three million people have viewed the clip with people saying, according to Thai Rath:

"Hey! Have you not seen the news?"

The white car has room on the left to pull over but stays blocking the outside lane. Another car further up is also in that lane in the video.

The incident was filmed on a road travelling towards Bangkok and Lopburi according to overhead signage.

Show this on national tv before those brainless tv-programs start...

To be fair the car was on the road first and second at the next red light not an option all perfectly reasonable as the driver felt fine and was in no pain.

I'm more shocked when I see one pulling over to let an ambulance pass.

Breaking news tomorrow,Thai driver says sorry and all will be fine.

Usual no enforcement of any laws.

There should be an edict out to all ambulance drivers only to use blues and twos when going to or returning with an emergency patient. Not all day long because it looks good and they should be fined if they do so.

Then a hefty fine for car drivers in cases like this video shows (5000 baht) and perhaps the government should remind their wonderful drivers that it could be a family member being rushed into hospital, so pull over!!!

I just wish that one day, soon, her loved one will be in an ambulance

needing urgent medical care and some selfish arrogant driver will

block the day way just like she has done....

There are lots of other behavioural things you can discover and regret at your leisure. Surviving in Thailand requires a highly developed  ability to ignore what doesn't sit well with you on the basis that it probably isn't going to change any time soon or at all.

It's worth remembering that the Thai culture reflects the Thai people. It is by comparison with developed-world values, very primitive and self-obsessed, some would say narcissistic, as reflected in this article. Giving way to others on the road reflects an acknowledgement of lack of 'pooyay-ness' and for most Thais I have known, that's just not on if you're in the middle classes and need to show everyone how important you are..

any driver who does this SHOULD be banned from driving for life and vehicle confiscated

Agreed. I've seen ambulances blaring and flaring when returning having deposited a patient at the regional hospital. Perhaps the driver is concerned the noodles will get cold or perhaps (as I suspect), it's their own version of 15 minutes of fame or importance. Or perhaps another patient is waiting.  Either way, I have the impression this is a minority, which is a positive.

The unwillingness of some drivers to pull over and allow an ambulance to pass is unlikely to change until self-esteem and self-importance occupies a lesser place in the psyche of Thais. Won't be a quick thing.

Install a proper good HD dash-cam witch is able to read/ record plates also in every ambulance and then together with the vdo footage make a complaint at the proper police station. Maybe is helps a bit in future. It's not expensive nowadays.

remove driving licence for 1 year ..give fine 100,000 baht ...

Then read the thread about the previous event, where the person who posted the youtube was said to be charged for defamation of the car driver in front

i have found that people here have been much better over the last couple of years in moving out of the way which no doubt is due to stuff on social media, from things like this to the cars moving out of the way at a bridge in korea which went viral. most of the stuff here is just educating what is right and wrong, some people really don't seem to have the common sense to work it out and some are just selfish. why are those blue light flashing, why is there white stripes painted across the road. a tv campaign could be launched to teach common ettiquette and laws on the road. i'd suggest 6 o'clock on a friday for an hour

Confiscate the vehicle and or vehicles, that will sort out the problem , then take them away and squash them, the vehicle that is....................................................:coffee1:.

You are all Farangs' and don't understand Thainess... Thainess means we can do what the <deleted> we want, when we want. The punishment for our actions is so trivial, that we just don't care...

Can anyone quote the Thailand vehicle code regarding "pulling over for emergency vehicles"?

Anyone?

I thought the law was that vehicles should simply continue driving straight in the current lane and not pull over.

I found that strange and somewhat ludicrous, but I don't make the laws.
