Nigerian charged in connection with lucrative romance scam

Tourist Police arrested a Nigerian on Thursday for involvement in an alleged international romance scam that appears to have netted Bt16 million.

 

Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, said ATM cards, bank pass books, a mobile phone and a computer were seized when Light Chinezurum was arrested at a Bangkok apartment.

 

The bank accounts had at one time collectively held Bt16 million before the money was transferred abroad, Surachet said.

I am beginning to see a pattern here..

My bank asks me a 1,000 questions and a bunch of documents from when i want to move a paltry sum of money overseas to pay for everyday things, here you have this romeo transfering ill gotten 16 millions baht and no one the wiser... Nice Thailand, Nice...

How did that happen. It´s superhard to transfer 10 bath out of the country. Maybe the banks accepted "Income from romance scam" as a valid reason for transfer.

Nigerian romance gang busted by police

Tourist Police and 191 Special Branch Police busted a Nigerian romance scam gang and arrested a Negerian man for fraud charges.

 

Light Chinezurum was brought to a press conference on Friday (April 27) after being caught for luring several women into online relationship and convincing them to transfer cash to him.

 

The victim said the suspect promise to send them valuable gifts, however, they had to transfer “customs fee” to a Thai bank account in order to claim the gift.
