CityNews – A Burmese man who grabbed a person’s phone in a snatch and run theft was apprehended by a passer by and later arrested by police.

On May 17th, police arrested a 21 year old Burmese man after he tried to grab a person’s phone and run off. The theft, that happened in Chiang Moi, was quickly foiled by a passing foreigner who grabbed the man and held him until police came.

The man admitted to the crime and said that he was having financial issues.

Deport him! He just acted as a police, which is an occupation reserved only for Thais. He had no WP issued for such work on that specific street. He is also up for unlawful imprisonment on the sidewalk until the real police arrived.

Right! The man has financial issues. Alright then, no crime committed! Oh, I forgot!!!! He was burmese! Oh dear, of to jail you go. All from 5-20 years.

I'm sure many would have hired the fellow for jobs at the standard 250 THB/day wage !!
