Thai ID - UBON update

Featured Replies

Good morning.

Which documents are needed to acquire the ID. I know I have to go to Warin Amphur, I just need an update on the docs.

Thanks Chris

"Thai ID"

Do you mean the "yellow book" (which presumes the registration in the Thailand citizen register) and/or "pink card" for foreigners?

The pink card. I have the Yellow Book already

Thx

If you already have a yellow house book it should be easy to get the pink ID card. The yellow book is normally the hard part for getting one.

Probably best to just to go to the Amphoe and ask for one.

Thanks. I’ll give a bash tomorrow

You might have to answer some weird questions.

Religion?

Blood group?

Forgot about the rest.

I took all the documents with me that I could think of, and copies of them - just in case...

In the end (Udon, amphur muang) they wanted yellow housebook & copy, passport & copy, and Thai driving licence  & copy. The driving licence was the only item I didn't have a copy of. No problem, five minutes in the queue for the photocopy machine - all done.

As we all know, it all depends on who's processing the application and whether they had an argument with their spouse before coming to work. If they did, then there could well be a longer list - ha ha!

For me, it was all finished within an hour, a couple of years ago.

Thanks guys for the above. Done and dusted today.

Went to Warin Amphur at 2.50 and was out by 3.10

Original Passport and Original Yellow Book.

As Benq said they asked about religion and blood group.

Couple of footnotes for Warin expats.

1/ They only issue the foreigners' IDs at 3.00PM on a Friday.

2/ Regarding Yellow Books, please don't be put off by the rather "plump" lady who says that they can not be issued to foreigners. Grab your PooYaiBaan and go to your Tessabaan, they will provide for you.

Cheers again and Happy New Year

:cheesy:

I hesitated to mention that at our office it was the same.

Come back 3 PM.

As I understood they call some IT admin on the phone to switch their system to "farang mode"

Ha ha! Now you've said that, I do remember when my ID card was printed in Udon there were also some phone calls to the IT department I heard going on, trying to get my card to print, but I had turned up on spec.

Perhaps Fridays is now ferang day at the amphurs!
