  • Try AA Insurance Brokers (Thailand)...You can ask on line in English (fill out a form)..

  • Thanks fredob43, but I don’t trust the dealer, hence my decision to go elsewhere.

Any such insurance would be invalid, not worth anything and against “Thai Law”.

You need a Thai drivers license if you live here more that 90 days.

Yes, but that has no bearing on the car insurance. The car can be insured, even if the owner doesn't have a valid DL. The person driving the car and the person in who's name the insurance is don't have to be the same. So yes, not having a valid DL can invalidate the insurance, but only of the person driving the car.

Thanks for all the advices...I’ll proceed to get a Thai driver’s license (as instructed by my insurance broker) as I am the owner of the car and I’ll be the only person driving the car.

I just negotiated to get the first year Class 1 insurance included in the purchase of a new car. My question is does the dealer purchase the insurance and I just sign the insurance documents when I pick up the car? Also, does dealer Class 1 insurance include collision coverage?
