Or they just move to another area and again block the footpath. Ram. Road around Sois 21 - 25 a good example, it got so blocked that most pedestrians walked on the dangerous road to get through. Plus many vendors abusive if someone bumped their stalls. Police warned the vendors again and again, no result. Then the army moved in, told them to be totally gone within 3 hours or lose everything, no discussion. Again the vendors ignored the instructions, by now many army officers and soldiers in the area. At the deadline time many very big army trucks arrived and many soldiers who picked up everything and quickly threw it all on the trucks, vendors told to stand back and not touch, and all their attempts to discuss ignored. Trucks loaded and gone within about 30 minutes. Vendors furious and many in tears. This was one of the few locations where the actual shop owners were brave enough to demand action because the footpath vendors were blocking the real shops. One mini mart had 4 or 5 big security guards on the footpath ensuring no vendors came near. The security guards at this mini mart were there for another reason, one of the mafia dragons who were extorting the vendors was actually grabbing people trying to enter the mini mart and loudly demanding they pay 20Baht per person to be allowed to enter the mini mart. During the sweep above the mafia dragon lady was handcuffed and handed to the police standing on the sidelines and looking sheepish. A few days after the army swoop many vendors had returned. Suddenly army personnel appeared with trucks and soldiers, no warning, no discussion, they just threw everything on the tucks and gone. Since then every 3 or 4 days there's several army officers arrive at random times and check there's no vendors. vf example 2 1

Sydebolle Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 The biggest problem in Thailand are their own people. Nobody observes basic rules and regulations and literally everywhere pedestrians are forced to walk on the road. The worst are the food vendors; in addition to the nuisance of not being able to use the footpath the smell/stench can be terrible and avoid by all means getting in touch with equipment, stall etc. - filth of the absolutely first order.
