But you must do the test ok Did you?

I didn't do a driving test, I did what everyone else does who already has a licence from their home country, ie a colour, reaction and perception test.

This might work as I also assume they don't check against a database of existing licenses (for foreigners). But I can't remeber any report about such an attempt.

Accepted home country license required.

It does work, I got a new licence based on my UK licence without showing my very expired old Thai licence a few months ago, there were no checks.

Not correct, all is in the database.

It is correct, I did it a few months ago.  There may be a database but if you don't disclose that you have an expired licence in Bangkok and you have a foreign licence they don't check.

If you have ever had a Thai licence you are in the system and cannot pretend that you haven't.

Yes, you can, I still have a UK licence and using that I did exactly that a few months ago in Bangkok.  My first Thai licence expired years ago.

How old was your Thai license? And where was your license issued?

10 years maybe, Minburi.

Thanks.

No surprise then, issuance of your earlier license was probably too long ago to be included in the database. On top of that, it was at a different DLT, and I'm not sure if the database is a local or countrywide one. Would presume countrywide though.

Mine must have been in the database (I doubt that they were ever issuing licences without some kind of record being kept!) because I was unable to renew the tax on my car when the time came because an unpaid fine was registered against it, that takes a database record.

Yes, but not a DL record.

No, you will have to do a driving test and theory test the same as no licence
