  Hi,

I've had the "new update" popping up last night when I did some Office work. When I switched the bittch off, it came up with the updates would be installed and I went to bed. What a Windows Joke................

The whole joke, it's nothing less, took a long time to install, just to drop the towel at 95 % and it took four restarts to Undo the bittchy updates.

It might be better to wait for an advanced version of the "end of June update". It's pretty much time-consuming.

Thanks for the heads up.

After having trouble with the "April" update (VPN SW crushed, wasting hours) I rolled back to the previous (2017) version.

Then did the registry hack to regain control when and if to install.

(OK it's a bit nagging to confirm virus scan update once or twice a day )

I got enough of being permanent beta tester and searching known functions at yet another place.

If there is something new that really interests/benefits me I can consider to upgrade.

I hesitated long to install W10 due to this forced update/upgrade.

Unfortunately I was proven right with my concern.

Thanks for your nice post. I can't think of any upgrade that would benefit me right now. Another problem is that the new update was also asking me to activate my MS Office 2016 installation.

Now I can look back at two "upgrades/updates that messed up my genuine and paid MS Office installation of Pro 2016. It seems that people who try your activation key while you're upgrading have the power to take over your key. Perhaps it only happened to me, but I'd think that it's an annoying part that shouldn't be done now.

It's still making problems and a huge headache.

The first time, I got stuck at 95 %, then had to uninstall the updates very slowly after unsuccessful installation.

The last days, I've tried some Windows troubleshooter, but they just kept searching without showing a result.

Today, I had an MS guy who manually installed thousands of files via Powershell, but in the end, I saw many files in the second run where the access was denied.

After a restart then, something moved, but the installation of KB (KB4284848) didn't work out and another unseccessful installation, but this time without deinstallation.

I'm currently running the W Update troubleshoter and it just showed me that a problem still exists.

The problem is that it's asking for a restart, then it doesn't fully install. The MS guy seemed to know the issue but couldn't finish it, because of a restart. I'm now asked to do a restart and will report back

I'm running it again and hope that I can fix it.

   That's what I see:

Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Definition 1.271.359.0) 2018-06 Pending install

2018-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4284848) Downloading - 0%

I hope that you guys have more luck. If possible better wait until this bug is fixed.

Even downloading the KB tool from MS's website didn't really help.

Update:

I've got the same problem now with my notebook, doing the same weird shitte.

And that's a 32 bit OP, MS writes that there are no known problems.

It's doing the same odd things on my notebook, installing 90 something percent, then undoing it. Time to defer this weird update.

I am stubborn, did the update no problems at all. 64 bit machine windows 10.

I gave up on it. Now I've got quite a lot of attempts to install some updates, but it shows that I'm up to date.

Must be how your computer is configured.. i got 3 computers here all win 10 all 64 bits no problems. I almost never have any problems.

Mine updated without issue.  Please reinstall Windows then update again.

Last win 10 update killed all my vpns.

Windows Website says there are no current problems with the update. Why do I seem to have all of the bugs?

It's so time-consuming when it starts rolling back the 95 % of updates.

Please see attached screenshots. It shows that I'm up to date, but the second screenshot shows updates that weren't installed??????

Even an MS technician who had remote access couldn't fix the issue. But he knew exactly what the problems were.

The reality, no update worked.png

Nop, never. I've got all backed up and could use an earlier backup. But then I'd have to wait for many updates. The update fixing tool works well, but once it finds new updates and you click yes, it's a totally messed up fix.

I don't really need the updates and can switch them off for a while until they've fixed their bugs.

My machines are well configured and I don't have any viruses or Trojans. The June update that didn't work and stopped at 95 and took ages to roll back seems to have messed up a few things. But I can handle it, just wanted to know if others are having the same issues.

I am saying there might be a problem because of configuration, not that your computers are not well configured. What I mean with that is that a windows update must encompass so much different versions of hardware that some combinations can be problematic. Does not mean anything bad on your part just that some combinations give problems and others do not. You can't really know that before so you can't really protect yourself from that.

There doesn't seem to be any bug, I and other posters have installed it without problems, not updating puts you at risk of viruses, perhaps how you arrived at this issue in the first place.  Better to reinstall windows, its free, painless and will make your computer work like it should.

Have you tried scanregw.exe and sfc / scannow ?

I get exactly the same seems everytime i manage an update it loads up with a bug that prevents the next update, as in your case i had it up to 96 % then gleefully tells me it's rolling back after more than an hour sometimes, finish up doing a complete re-install losing everything on the way!

I've tried it all and even had a Microsoft guy taking over. He worked for an hour but was as unsuccessful as I.

It's not the previous update now that doesn't work, it's a new one and I'm afraid that it's got something to do with the bookmark program I've installed for school grades, attendance, etc..

But I've got the same issues with my Dell notebook, with a 32 OS. But there's also the bookmark program installed.

I'll try to disable it and do it again. It's very time consuming, the rollback ( undo the updates takes pretty long.

Even running the update troubleshooter and telling me that stuff was fixed, the next update will be the same.

On my PC at home, I had 7 unsuccessful updates with the rollbacks.

I'll also try and uninstall some programs that might cause it. Advanced System care Ultimate has got an Antivirus as well, and I'm running Kaspersky as well.

I'm aware that you shouldn't run two AV, but I've disabled the AV part of the ASC-U.

That could already be a big problem, methinks.

The first time, it stopped at 95 %. then did the rollback, undoing the already installed updates. On my notebook this morning, I could get to 96 %m as yours and then it went up to 100 %, but only to let me know that it's rolling back.

It's so annoying that I'll switch the updates off for a few days.

Reinstalling Windows is very easy these days, no need to backup your files, it saves them for you, I really recommend it in your circumstance.

True but you have to install all your programs again. That makes it a bit hard. It depends a bit how much stuff you have installed and how much you have customized it.

I've had another MS technician doing the same things that I had already done 20 times before.

I'll give it another try and if it's not working I'll start over. But how do I know that it won't happen again, after reinstalling 20 + programs?

I've already spent way more time to troubleshoot the issue than it will take to start over again. The only problem is that I do not know if the problem will come back.

Considering that my DELL notebook, noe almost 10 years old has the same issues, I'm starting to wonder if one of my programs is causing the issue.

I've installed Nord VPN on all of my machines, will try and delete them.

Personally I would start over again in 90% of the cases it will solve the problem.

Considering that my Dell is having the same issues, but running on OS 86, I might wait a bit and see. It would take a long time to install all applications and some of them might not activate.

I think they did/do brake down but at least you can fix it with a paper clip, duct tape and a few spanners at the roadside [emoji106]

Next week ill be doing a fresh install of windows, wont be fun but a new computer means new install. Its always hard to get the right apps back. I did safe most of my licenses so I should be ok. It just takes a while before the computer is configured in a way you really like.
