Amazing. One can only imagine how the families feel. Medals all round to the rescuers and all volunteers.

Great news. Lucky they didn't stop at Pattaya Beach and moved on. That could have been disastrous. ?

I'm so glad. Lately this was the first thing I was looking up. 9 Days and nights in the dark cave. Praise to all people who helped in finding the boys. I'm happy for them and for the families who must have suffered a lot.

Now I'm saying what I thought all along: this is movie-stuff... Once they get out and are safe.

I hope that there is going to be a movie about them, the way it happened, the water rising, the fears, hopes, the darkness, the rescuers. It deserves a movie to tell the story to the world!

Many of us lived the drama for 9 days on ThaiVisa. How could a movie top the emotions we shared?

But may your wish be granted (if it's good for the boys and their coach). What an outcome!

I stumbled across this article about one of the divers :

http://cavingnews.com/20130103-buckingham-palace-recognizes-top-english-cave-diver-richard-stanton-mbe

"In 2011, Stanton was voted Hero of the Year by his firefighter colleagues during their Aspire Awards ceremony. "

" It isn’t particularly unusual for me to get official looking letters in the post because of my international rescue work, but when I got notification of this on behalf of the Palace I was absolutely astounded. I’m just doing work I enjoy to the best of my ability, but I’m thrilled to be awarded the MBE."

Looks like they got the right men for the job.

Congratulations to the rescuers for this outstanding effort and success, I'm sure it's been both extremely challenging, combined with self determination from all involved to find this group and for the parents of the Thai boys to be eventually reunited again.

The hard and long part is getting everyone out, well done to all.

Great news and what a nail biter !!!! well done to all and the Thai authorities for accepting foreign rescue workers to get involved.

Now comes the hard part trying to get them out with channels still underwater and rain on the way, but I am hopeful Buddha will bring them home.

..terrific news and what a relief for the group, families and rescuers etc.

Everyone deserves hugs and food and warm clothes.

Then, take the coach into a dark room and beat the holy ......out of him.

..he's been in a dark room for 9 days already...?

True, it is not a matter of topping what happened, but to honour those whe helped, and suffered as well. And besides that it would make a great movie with the right director. But first of all, I'm glad and hope that they all get out safe and well!

Fantastic news for the kids and their families. Unbelievable work by the thai govt and the volunteers from near and far that pitched in.

For the armchair experts on here that were spinning us the kids were dead etc and having a go at thai society for being responsible for the whole thing ( yes ..impeccable logic ), well thankfully you were badly wrong but I'm sure you are very pleased to be so.

Just goes to show where there is life there is hope.

Thailand should be very proud.

Absolutely fantastic news!!!!!!!!!  I dreaded turning on the news this morning but was overjoyed when I did.

Congratulations to all involved.

A number of uncaring, negative, trolls, off topic posts and answers have been removed.

Give them a break - the news has just broken that they are safe and everyone is joyous.  Who gives a **** right now about listing the nationalities who helped??  You can be sure a hell that the Brits and the others are not looking for credit right now.

exactly...well said joseph

but there's always gotta be the ones with the negative comments no matter how great the news is

I can definitely use this story to encourage my students to learn English.

' Students , you never know when you're going to need English in Thailand. You could be stuck down a cave in the dark for nine days when all of a sudden a British rescue worker turns up. Now what should you say?'

They needed a win on this.! Congratulations to the dedicated rescuers and support staff. It put a big smile of joy on mu face this morning reading about the rescue!?

GREAT NEWS!

These 2 British divers are among the very best in the world at cave diving and rescues. They were in the lead because of the their vast experience and they were using highly specialized equipment. Even with all the support from the Thai Navy divers, look at how long it took them. This was a very difficult rescue and many many people contributed. Congratulations to all who helped!

these  young thai boys swim like fish run like the wind and fight like warriors...I had no doubt they would survive this...but it was a nail biter

Absolutely wonderful news.

Now what criticisms will all the  the Thai's  are  stupid'' brigade offer in   their profound learned comments concerning the outcome of this complex operation.

WOW what great news

I woke up this morning to this fantastic news on Ozz

I have been reading and watching the news daily for this outcome

What an incredible effort for all concerned from all over the world, doesn't matter who found them...…. they are safe and well that's all that matters

I would say that it wasn’t British guys who found them. I think it was a thousand people involved in the whole effort who found them.

The people who first determined that they would probably be on Pataya Beach; the guys relaying hundreds of air bottles through the almost impassable passages; the guys who worked tirelessly humping machinery and supplies...

I could imagine that the English guys who got there first may just have happened to be on shift at the time.

If you win a football match by six goals to five, it isn’t the last goal that won the match: it was all of them.

Great post Phil

Shame about the negative post from others,,,, but there's always gotta be one (or more) hasn't there

If you had checked up you would have found humans can survive 4/5 days without water 30 to 40 days with no food whatsoever !

I wasn't thinking about the food. I was thinking about the long journey with flood waters rising all around them. I was thinking they might do something desperate, like try to swim through the flooded areas. I was concerned there might not be enough air so deep in the cave. I thought they would certainly have either have hypothermia or the opposite heat exhaustion. The odds were well against them.

It's a great day today.

Amazing stuff. Pity the above stories didn't mention the Brit who from what I can gather was the first to find them which I guess means he was leading the SEAL team. Oh well at least they asked for help and they found them alive.
