I had a 650b back in 78. Great bike but I was power mad then and got seduced by the 4 cylinder stuff that was becoming very popular.

The XS 650 was a great bike. And a handsome bike too. Just look at that lovely drum front brake stocker above. Pretty bulletproof motor. Concur about the white flat tracker with the clever Tuning Fork paint job - well nice.

There is something more aesthetically pleasing to the eye about front drummers ain't there even if disc's beat 'em for efficiency .. Check out the Vinnie ..

Now that's a proper bike but sadly - beyond most of our pockets now.

Its just the look of the Vincent V twin...........awesome. The only thing I think he's got wrong on that are the exhausts - but that's just personal preference.

Buy one then.

Available in every Ducati dealer, 449k. Exactly like in the pic above.

Saw one recently in the showroom, very pretty, nicely styled and detailed, but rather small in size. Too small for my 6'3" frame...

Yeah but the Vincent V looks nothing like that fitted to American tractors ?

That particular bike is a pre production run of 200 called the Tallio Rosso or summink, noted by the smooth cast gearbox shell. First of the "Tonti" frames. Worth a small fortune these days - $40k ish at auction. Set a lot of world records. Chrome moly thin wall frame tubing, 4LS front brake, all the gears lightened and blue printed, hand built, yada nada da bing.

Stock later production models these days still fetch more than $15k.

A fantastic motorcycle in it's time, and would still happily be a canyon carver and keeper-upperer-in-modern-traffic today.

Same front mudguard and stays as fitted to all Ambassadors/Eldorados from the 60's and early 70's, thru the Cali I, II & III's in the 70's, 80's & 90's thru to the Cali Evo's of the 2000's. Rear mudguard very similar & in some cases identical too.

Class bike. Here's my '89. Same 'guard & stays.

Agree, on all points. To my eyes/memory most were ugly (except R90s)
