Super rare Azzariti from early 30's .. Very little info on this or even colour photo's .. Vicenzo Azzariti by all account's was a very talented engineer who came up with the idea of positive valve closing using the big disc seen on the side of the engine .. Apparently he only made motorcycles for 3 or 4 years before going to work for Benelli and designing some of their ( more conventional ) engines of the later 30's .. Absolutely no info though on how it ran or performed ..

Another piece of history.  The first inline 4 cylinder engine on a motorbike.  The Belgian made 362cc FN 4, from 1905.  (Probably so named because they got fed up with being asked "is it a single or a twin?"  "No, it's an effin' 4!")

Another quite astonishing special by A M .. His tribute to Honda's RC 174 6 cyl racer based on Yamaha's FZR 250 lump .. Don't know about you guy's but I can't see the join's .. it looks to all the world like a factory made job .. And bike itself before paint and finishing ..

One day God got annoyed by the constant moaning of mechanics working on complicated engines, so he decided once and for all to build the easiest engine to ever work on, and make it bomb proof, unburstable and pretty.

He was also bored one day, so using a 1380cc version of this engine, modified to 140 bhp and 115 Ib ft of torque, he built himself the ultimate God's Chariot, weighing in at 400 Ibs.

Even the Devil was jealous.

Off topic/heads up.

Was scouting my weekly classifieds and DBigBike in BKK are selling one of these, the new Z900RS FI 2018 version. Same colour, which i believe is extra on the std price, for a ridiculous 379k.

I'm sure i saw the price as 349k a week ago. Mebbe it was too cheap?

I think new in that colour they are over 500k, stock colour 499 or summat?

Yes 499 and in some other counties they have stopped supplying the ‘Jaffa’ (Orange/brown) version. Limited run, maybe???

Suzy is two GSXR 250 lumps .. but obviously needs finishing ..

Aussie 2.0 PGM V8 this thing is 'kin mental said to shunt out in the region of 330 hp ..

One for thaiguzzi.  Ditch the Rot Etan and get one of these babies for the farm.  A 1957 Moto Guzzi Truckster:

Further proof that, however much we may laugh at some of the motorcycle based conveyances here, the Italians thought of them first.  A 1954 Piaggio Ape Calessino.  Currently for sale, for a mere £32,000:

And the bog standard version...

… But still fitted with all the bells and whistles, and this one's only EUR18,000:

Finned exhaust headers were a trademark of Schü's ..

See your 3 wheeler and raise you more 3 wheelers.

Bikers always go on about the Harley SV 45 ci 750cc 3 wheeler, but IMHO it was never as classy or as practical as Guzzi's own 500 OHV single.

And then in later life, the kit car Morgan types with the wheels arse about tit.

One of these company's was Triking in Norfolk, used to do a bit of work for them. They got good press, and were apparently great fun to drive, the Guzzi layout being perfick for shaft drive to the back wheels.

Yeah but .. The hardcore puritans of the leather flying cap and goggles brigade will have nothing but a JAP up front particularly in the older trikes as they live historical correctness these guys .. And for those who want big power its S&S's 2.0 litre job ..

He purchased it with 19 k on it, so in 4 years he's done 30k AND NEVER CHANGED THE BELTS OR LOOKED AT THE VALVES.......

Runs sweet as a nut.......

Yes sure there probably are those out there happy to overlook the recommended maintenance sched's though personally I think that is folly .. If Ducati recommend X'000 mls for valve clearance check and poss' adjust then I'd be taking them at their word as they are the ones who have persevered and developed the idea .. And aside the issue of odd and excessive wear on lobes , rocker's , followers etc from excessive clearance is the performance aspect , allow those clearances to become to great an' those valves start opening/closing a nano sec' later .. Same goes for not changing timing belts on sched' particularly for high comp' engines  .. Its risking catastrophic engine damage for the sake of a couple of hrs work and cost of the belts .. Which is the point I was making about the dude with a noisy 916 'round my way .. he wanted the image of a Duke but didnt have the scheck's needed to maintain one ..
