Would we not rather “sod” the gal in the shoes, or do I not understand the term?

You do know who that is, surely?

Here's another famous face and stunner in her day, who actually could and did ride a lot of bikes.

Not bad ... zero to 400 kph in 26 seconds.  I couldn't quite make it out, but it seemed like about 130 kph in first gear.

Looks like Turkish WSB rider Sofalogu .. was a publicity stunt across a new bridge ( Istanabul I think ) and yep 0 - 250 mph in a stupidly short time .. Those H2R's are supposed to be track days type bikes with no lights and indy's and various other non compliance for road legalness but a few have found their way onto the street ..

Lump out of a 57 coupe ..

Described as over engineered pieces of automotive art sometimes are Bug' engines but then Ettore Bugatti was a quite brilliant engineer with some idea's that were way ahead of the time .. But he was said to also be quite stubborn and refused to compromise his idea's to mass production arguing the quality of hand made could not be replicated .. Ultimately trying to hand build everything cost more , the figures never added up and the banks called time .. Olde Worlde Bugatti's are now so rare they fetch a kings ransom whenever they come on the market even basket cases on the very rare occasion that they turn up run into the hundreds of thousands ..

Check the "engine turning" out on the alloy panels.

I have learnt how to do that over the years, a delicate, very time consuming process, but oh so effective in the right enviroment.

BP's Guzzi's above - nah, no thumbs up from me, sorry, - they are all what Guzzista or even the factory call "small block twins" - based on the 70's V35 and V50.

Great bikes, reliable etc, but too physically small for big blokes and lack the torque of the bigger more traditional "big twins".

A proper learner bike, a great girl's bike (not being disrespectful) or an ideal modern Hipster bike (being disrespectful).

The new V7's are not even knocking out 50 bhp - pretty embarrassing IMO.

IMG_0047.thumb.JPG.8c317f57b74c097b67c7a9db23c38f8b.JPG

The above is a proper V7, a replica of the first of the Tonti framed V7's, a 750 but a big block.

Never heard the term engine turning, but we used to use a piece of broomstick in a vertical mill and valve lapping compound...

Yeah t'was one of Bugatti's trademarks was engine turning finishing of everything .. The cam cover's and bulkhead in this pic' shown the level he took it to ..

I have seen it done in college years ago but there was no real call for it in the truckworld ..

Yeah i've heard of that method too.

I use a loaded cylindrical mop, either with metal polish or grinding paste, depending on material, again, a vertical mill is best for consistent results twiddling the handles, but a pillar drill will suffice if you've got a good eye and patience (which i neither have).

Bugatti 16 cyl .. 2 straight 8's mounted parallel to and geared to each other .. That in itself goes against usual engine doctrine as cranks of that length suffer flex and twisting issues .. Bugatti's answer .? Hand built roller bearing cranks to keep them as short as possible ..

3 valves a cyl , gear driven cam's , twin supercharger .. All this in the late 20's .. And with engine turned finish ..

If you look carefully, the bulkhead appears to be alloy sheet and engine turned finished, but the "cam cover" sheet or whatever it is, looks a different pattern and i would say it is hand scraped "half moon" for aesthetics only.
