Damrongsak
What's the deal with Moto Guzzis? I know they are pretty reliable and all, but what attracts people to them? Seems to me you'd just get your knees burned on the cylinders. Whatever ...

Popular Post Damrongsak
High revving 2-strokes. The Yamaha RA31 at 8:30 is pretty neat. And the Suzuki RP68 at 9:30 is crazy. 19HP, 3 cylinder 50cc with 16 speed gearbox and 20,000 rpm redline. The powerband was 500 rpm wide. Rule changes killed these exotic bikes.

Something like 110 lb/ft of torque at less than 4000 rpm .. And yep if you can find one they are strong money now .. Look similar to the Yamaha Bulldog I had in the UK in 2009 (1153cc V-twin)
Justgrazing
As Damrongsak above Suzy RP68 50cc V3 .. said to put out 18 hp at a stratospheric 20,000 rpm through a 14 speed gearbox .. power band as broad as a razor blade for that number of gears and revs .. was due to debut at the 1968 IOM TT but the FIM outlawed multi cylinder 50cc bikes just prior so Suzuki retired it without it ever racing .. only one known to exist is in a museum now .. Popular Post Justgrazing
Late 20's Buckers .. German made with engines bought from Britain .. who'd have thought that .. JAP engines were the premier units of the day used by numerous motorbike manufacturers including a number of German bike makers .. as the 30's rolled on a certain party within Germany were promoting their own engineering excellence in motor transport so manufacturers were discouraged from buying engines in from abroad and develop their own which they did to great success as DKW went on to demonstrate ..

I'd like to have a chainsaw with that engine on it, though the expansion chambers might get in the way. Another beauty of an engine is the Honda NSR500. 10 world championships and more than 100 race wins (Mick Doohan got 5 in a row). They eventually got around 200 HP from that engine. Justgrazing
Cagiva's mental 500 2 stroke GP bike from early 90's .. this one being the ultra trick carbon fibre framed version .. Eddie Lawson gave Cagiva their first top class win at the '92 Hungarian GP with a version of this bike .. and Randy Mamola who achieved legendary status by hanging on to the bike at the San Marino GP back in the 80's despite the Honda's best efforts to buck him off found the Cagiva just as brutal and unpredictable to ride .. Popular Post kickstart
I was looking for a factory made Trident in a Bonville frame saw one once thought it looked all right. But I found this instead ,Trident engine in a T140 frame with graffitied Marzochil fork's, rather nice.
Popular Post Justgrazing
Late 30's Sokol 1000 from Poland .. Based on a H D design with the engine passing more than a resemblance to an Indian lump .. The Polish military were principal customers but civvy versions were also made .. went out of business end of the 30's .. Popular Post JimShortz
I know not beautiful in everyone's eyes, but in mine she is... A proper Leo Vince exhaust with a sweet sound and the lower fairing added to clean up the looks. This minibeast is fantastic around the twisties of Thailand and makes me smile every time I ride her - and that's more days than not over the last year since I bought her! I have had bikes for 30+ years on and off. I've tried bigger bikes (CBR600, Versys 650) but I like light bikes. This works for me... ????
