Another Trump bashing thread ! These are as numerous and boring as all the cave rescue threads. At least they are fading away.

Trump spoke some truths we all know and of course that upsets the media , lawmakers , ....

It quite simple. Instead of fighting a war with shock & awe, Trump is employing smile & sanction. Brilliant strategy.

If by brilliant you mean idiotic and treasonous, you're on to something.

I thought Trump did a good job in Russia. These puerile, hysterical reports are ridiculous.

The reports are factual accounts of what he said , it's on tape , You might want to watch before making ridiculous ' fake news ' claims. As for the responses , mostly made on Twitter and reproduced in the opening article , are they fakes also ?

Reading most of the posts above feels like reading the New York Times, or the Washington Post, two newspapers renowed for their...hum...objectivity...

Instead of blaming Russia and Putin for everything bad happening in their countries, Westerners should better start by cleaning in front of their own door.

Russia may have meddled in US elections, although hard evidence is yet to be presented, but surely the US has never done the same, God forbid!

To take a recent example, Obama never went to the UK to bring his support against voting for Brexit...and this is not meddling?

Of course not, because Obama was kindly helping an ally/vassal, while Trump is concerting with an enemy...not the same!

Trump appears to not believe and trust his own intelligence agencies, but who would, considering their horrendous history?

Obviously, these intelligence agencies have never meddled in foreign elections...or even helped to remove foreign leaders from power when they didn't like the elections' results (Ukraine anyone?)...

And by the way, Crimea was annexed by Russia not in 2014, but in 1783!

It was only a bureaucratic decision by Krutchev, in 1954, that brought Crimea under the control of Ukraine, while the latter was part of the Soviet Union, with zero power.

According to some members, above, Putin is hell bent on destroying the wonderful Western way of life...

Do they mean the way of life that leads to completely destroy entire countries, such as Irak or Libya, for no reason, and then to be submerged by millions of the resulting refugees?

Putin doesn't need to do anything, he can just watch the West disintegrating under the weight of its own decadence.

Russia has little interest in the moribund West, it is part of an alliance with China and many other Eastern countries which, by means of a giant project called BRI, will peacefully connect more than half of the world population, for economic, and not military, purposes.

While the hysterical West throws all its (borrowed) money to finance ever more armements to fight imaginery enemies, the East is investing its solid money in a much more construtive way.

Needless to say where this will all lead...examples throughout History are plentiful...

Perhaps we should start referring to this as "Trump's World Despots Tour."

First sucking up to Kim from North Korea, and accomplishing nothing but to elevate a tyrant. And then more sucking up to Putin from Russia and selling out U.S. interests in the process.

Who's going to be next? Duterte in the Philippines as Trump's Humanitarian of the Year nominee?  Where's Idi Amin and Ferdinand Marcos when Trump needs them?

Instead of banging on about ' fake news ' the biased media , Trump haters , and all the rest of the garbage designed to avoid the issue.

How about , instead of just inserting sad emojis everywhere , you actually address the topic.

These ' truths ' you refer to actually boil down to the POTUS siding with the word of Putin at face value rather than the considered opinions of his own state department , foreign advisors and pretty much every independent source.

It stinks to high heaven and shame on you for refusing to face the obvious. The only good thing is that it's another nail in his coffin.

Russia is not an enemy.

Not to the US at the present time. Eastern Europe is just waiting to be invaded (again), though. EU should man up and do their own defense alliance and leave NATO. Trump is right in letting the old continent sort it's own shit out.

No, the U.S. would be wrong to abandon the EU and Eastern European countries that either are or aspire to be democracies. And because Russia stands for authoritarianism and not democracy, yes, Russia IS the U.S. enemy at the present time.

Your kind of view of current world politics is the same kind of "not our problem" attitude that enabled Hitler to conquer much of Europe before finally FDR was able to drag the U.S. into WW II in the wake of Pearl Harbor.

No sane person who favors democracy should want the U.S. or the rest of the EU to let Putin become the new conqueror of Eastern Europe or any other part, for that matter.  Or let Crimea become the Putin blueprint for reassembling the old Soviet Union by force and subversion/invasion of its neighbors.

Again, Tiny Don the crocodile, got outplayed by a far more intelligent and capable leader. He did commit treason, by siding with an enemy of the state. In many countries, the well deserved punishment would be death. Would that not be grand? He deserves that, for making the presidency into a personal tool. There was nothing diplomatic about this visit. It appeared to be personal in nature, and most of us doubt anything of substance was discussed. It was a free ride for Putin, and as usual, another leader got everything he wanted out of the meeting, and the US got nothing.

Not only are more people seeing that the orange emperor has no clothes but the gross naked emperor has soaked his clothes in gasoline and thrown them all over the world.

When does it stop?

This is not OK.

"trump" hater? Guilty as charged. Hating evil is entirely rational.

Here's a good recap from CNN with one of the most extensive list of comments by both Republicans and Democrats on Trump's summit performance.

Nary a one supporting Trump, Republic or Democrat. But I don't believe they included Rand Paul's remarks in this article.

Not this time: Top Republicans break with Trump over comments

https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/16/politics/congress-reaction-trump-putin-comments/index.html

And:

Quote

The conservative editorial page of The Wall Street Journal declared the news conference "a personal and national embarrassment" for the President, asserting he'd "projected weakness." Newt Gingrich, ordinarily a reliable voice of support, wrote on Twitter the remarks were "the most serious mistake of his presidency."

And:

Ex-Fox analyst: Watched Trump grovel at Putin

Anderson Cooper 360

There's lots more, but, you get the idea...

Wins the prize for the most bizarre explanation of the "trump" surrender summit.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/07/republican-senator-rounds-says-trump-lied-about-russian-meddling-during-helsinki-summit-as-a-bizarro-form-of-statecraft.html

"Everything I’ve seen and all the facts are very clear: Russia did meddle in our election. That was very clear. So I think what actually happened, I think Mr. Putin just got out-Trumped by Trump. If Mr. Putin thinks he can tell a whopper, he’s not gonna be outdone by this president. And so if Mr. Putin is going to look at him and try to straight-faced tell him that they didn’t meddle, our president can look right back at him and tell just as big a whopper back to Putin as Putin told him. "

As for Sen Rounds assessment, I'll give him this -- if anyone is an expert at all forms of lying and deceit, it's certainly our traitorous president.

Meanwhile, come on.... How could you leave out a direct quote of this little pearl from the above article?:

Quote

JUST IN: VP Pence offers a rose-colored view of Trump's Putin summit: "What the world saw, what the American people saw, is that President Donald Trump will always put the prosperity and security of America first."

— Peter Alexander (@PeterAlexander) July 16, 2018

It's amazing that some people literally have no shame...or moral conscience.
