So you retired over 27 years ago. You must be about 90.

Heraclitus said many years ago that the universe is in a constant state of flux...and if we agree that this forum is part of the same universe (and not an alternative one) then we can also agree that the TVF forum is subject to the same phenomenon...

maybe bedlam is the alternative universe that has eluded folks for millennia...where events are verifiably linear, traceable and with the usual notions of sanity adhering thereto...

ye gots to expect things to not be the same alla time...

I remember you won the poster of the year, rightly so. It's a farce now.

I remember Dr Pat Pong, he was a one liner wizard.

Sadly, these days are full of Thai bashers.

Ah, the days of George and being allowed to post anything.

Anyone remember Felix Lyn doing the Bkk radio.

Anyone remember the Bear Pit?

Dr Pat Pong was an intelligent man with great wisdom, sometimes sharp, but always wise. The way he left TV was not the way he deserved but he accepted the fate with a smile since he was way above the one(s) who sent him away. George? Well what can I say...we leave it with that.

Ha ha, you called it to find out? I had no idea!

The domain thaivisa.com was originally registered by a Swedish guy Lars - can't remember his surname - in 1998 when he provided a visa service.

He sent me a jacket as I used his service. He was on Sukhumvit soi 23.

When he became really popular, immigration didn't appreciate the service he offered and were after him, so he did a runner.

When the domain expired, George registered it and started TVF with it in (I think) 2002.

I'm not sure if this story is correct. There are stories that the Swedish guy Lars and George are alter ego's but not 100% sure.

???? Hahaha...not me though. I visited TVF already back in 2003 but only registered in 2004....holy moly...15/16 years already? I stopped visiting TVF because of the irritating advertising popup that warned you to stop using a VPN. I prefer to watch ads when I want to, not put thru my throat with the ridiculous TVF warnings popping up as if you're in a concentration camp. Bah!

You're addicted to TVF...watch your health since forums could kill you...have more fun in the streets and watch pretty people.....Stay cool ❄️

He died earlier this year.

That is sad news. DrP was a good un, back in a time when TV was a laugh before the money, rules & regs took over.

Believe Lars is George... possibly George Larsen. Used to have the TV parties; Chiang Mai would have dozens of members. He was easily upset and rumour has it fell out with PatPong who helped set TV up. I was a floater not long after it got online, casually signed up but lost nik/login details and didn't really connect until 2004 when boring wife stuff required the sourcing of up to date visa info. ????

Has certainly changed, but still a great source.

Ravisher was a laugh.

I think you're correct what "George" is concerned.

I also witnessed the forced downfall of Dr P also..tragic period at the time and I'm sure Dr. P didn't deserve the way he was treated. May he R.I.P.

I don't post much anymore except in the Motor Forums as I am a car guy but do remember the old days. I joined in Jan 2006 and remember the TV parties George use to throw. George use to pay our expenses and we would cook ribs for the parties. There was three of us, Marty (who has passed on), Baz (who is still kicking) and myself. We had some good times back then. These pixs are from 2007 & 2008.

Big changes to this forum over the years.  I joined in 2003, not sure that there are many posters from those early days now.

I think changes are not unique to this forum. The rise of social media and the 'me-me' and snowflake generation has directly affected many online forums, often in a negative manner.

Meadish Sweetball? Remember him? I was in Ikea a couple of weeks ago, and his name came back to me when I looked in the food section. Funny guy with whom I had some good exchanges. He bowed out of the forums very deliberately and gracefully.

Yes, I remember. I often wondered what happened to him.

Been a official member since 2005 (Chiang Mai forum) And have to say TV Hit it peak when George sold out. I still recognize some of the names here from those old days, and glad there still around.

It used to be a little more personal in the CM forum. Now it seems that many of the posters are here and gone in a couple of years.

Yes, very nice bloke, and good to have a beer with. Believe he didn't care much for the numptiness carry-on of some of the numpties on here anymore... can't blame him. Bet he's still a floater in one form or another though.

I started here in May 05, posting mainly in Bedlam back then until it became too officious.

Some old names still around, last I heard about you, Tuky, you were in Indonesia.

I sometimes wonder about a few of the characters from back then. Totster, Britmaverick, Suegha, Chuchok, Patsycat (RIP), Thomas Merton and many others.

Whatever happened to Scampy (The Gentleman Scamp) a real character and storyteller. Often banned, he returned in various guises such as Wes Turner the jetski sidecar inventer,  and Uma the exotic middle eastern model whose avatar had many fools asking her out by PM. He concocted a meeting and brief affair between the later two and fooled many into believing it actually happened!

The place has certainly changed with so many whingers now  complaining about everything. And the forum itself now seems to be heading away from a social opinion forum to a closed news service.

The turning point seems to have been around 2010, when the Red Shirt/Yellow Shirt split poisoned and divided the forums.

The yellow shirts and the military regime are no longer so popular on this site. Pity people had to learn the hard way.

I think it changed as more conservative, non traveller types and unadventurous people joined. judgemental, anti Thai  anti fun  anti mongering  hystericaly anti drugs. But to be honest back in 2005 I was warned that there were a lot of wierd people on this forum and I read with disbelief some of the small minded comments. So I joined another Bangkok based blog full of funny talented  writers who had such a joy of life. I used to laugh outloud.

Does anyone know what happened to IJustWannaTeach?  I think he had a stroke and went back to the US ...Texas, maybe?   Well I just remember that is where he was from.  A post came up from him today and I saw that he had been posting and then suddenly stopped.  I think he was impaired for a while and typing was difficult for him so I was happy to see he got back to it fully.

But what happened that stopped it?  I hate when people just disappear like that.  I have a lot of people on the missing list!!

I'm still here from time to time..

As for TV changes it definitely has degraded over the years. I believe allot has to do with the govt making it harder, people get upset and start taking it out on others!

Yes, television has changed. We watch LED's now instead of the old cathode ray tube ones, and the programming is more risque.

TV mean "television" to me. Always has and always will.
