Hi

I'm looking to purchase a mid price tablet in Surin city but cant seem to find any  shops with more than one or two cheap Chinese brands, any recommendations for shops with a reasonable choice.

There is a branch of ‘Advice’ pc chain of shops in Surin. I have found them good in other cities nearby. Sorry I do not have the address though for Surin.

You.

Thanks. I asked as I read the OP's post to mean "cheap" as "rubbish".

In my opinion this is no longer the case. Huawei for example are very good products. Oppo and Vivo also good.

Cheap maybe in comparison to Samsung and Apple but then those two brands are overpriced, in my opinion.

Hi

Thanks for the speedy replies, what I meant by cheap were brands that I've never heard of and sell for about 2000 to 3000 Baht.

I'm prepared to pay up to about 10,000 Baht and would certainly consider Huawei  good value along with other brands I'm familiar with.

Thank you for replies so far much appreciated.

You can buy a new IPad older version for very low prices. Try AIS they will get one for you and not much of an uptick or order Apple on line

What size of tablet are looking for?

Fro 10,000 baht you can find some name brand ones such as Samsung dependent upon the size. Getting one that can be used as a phone will cost more.

In my experience Apple does not treat you right with older stuff. Things just stop working and apps become unavailable. Also repairs are costly if even possible. With older stuff it is bound to happen that something breaks.

Looking to buy a 10 inch tablet or thereabouts, Huawei make a 9.8 inch for under 10,000 Baht which I think would suit me very well, comes with  WIFI or WIFI+sim.

Another member suggested buying online, I've looked on Lazada but was rather put off by some negative feed back and comments.

If I can't find any shops in Surin I may drive to Korat (IT city) where there should be a good selection to choose from, even though it's 6 hour round trip I think it may be worth it.

There are many places in Robinsons in Buriram. My guess would be that Robinsons Surin would have many places also.

Shorter drive to here in Ubon where I am sure you can find one.

Central Plaza mall has lots of shops. Many phone shops next to Big C on the ring road.

I had a tablet with WiFi only but went for one with a sim card slot when I was looking for a new one since I found it difficult at times to get on WiFi.

I'm sure he will find Surin sufficient with the additional info posted by Surinites, but for others looking in, who live more locally to Ubon I would just mention that you forgot to include Sunnee Plaza Ubonjoe. Still has a fair range of 'shops' in one place on the top floor and is a good place to find repairers for PCs/printers/mobiles and for shops specialising in accessories/leads/batteries etc> If you want a one-stop place to go to first I would still recommend it over Central Mall.

I didn't forget Sunee. Just didn't mention it since the number of shops selling phones is not that many now.

Still good for some of the other things you mentioned.

OK here's an update on my quest for a tablet  a poster (ballpoint) mentioned Banana and they have a branch in Robinson Surin, gave them a call and the tablet that I wanted was out of stock, said they would have to order or I could order myself online.

Anyway so I thought no harm in looking and was pleasantly surprised by their professional looking web site and purchased a Huawei T3 with sim 9.6 inch screen, delivery within 3 days     7990Baht

Thanks again to all who  contributed

I bought a Samsung Tab Active2 from Amazon, was delivered in a week. (It is a ruggedised model which is not available in Samsung shops in Thailand).
