A Lampang woman has been given a 20-per-cent chance of survival after she drank pesticide in a suicide attempt following embarrassing photos posted on Facebook by her alleged rapist, her father said on Tuesday.

The parents of the 22-year-old visited her at Lampang Hospital Tuesday morning and complained to reporters that they feared that the rapist and his accomplices might not be brought to justice.

The father said he had learned from his daughter’s husband that she had consumed the pesticide on Saturday night and been rushed to hospital.

Doctors managed to save her life, but she remained in a coma more than two days later.

The father said he was told by the doctor that his daughter had a survival chance of only 20 per cent.

He added that the alleged rapist had posted a photo of him lying beside his unconscious daughter in a Tak hotel room on July 17.

The father said his daughter then told him that she had been lured by a former village head and three other men to be raped in the hotel, and that she was sorry for embarrassing the family.

The father lives in Nan, while his daughter lives with her husband in Lampang.

On July 14, he had asked his daughter to visit him, but she then disappeared.

A man, who later turned out to be the one who made the Facebook post, later delivered her to the parents’ home in Nan, but his daughter did not at the time recount what had happened to her while she was away.

The father said he filed a complaint with Muang Lampang police station this past Sunday.

Pol Colonel Kraisit Prompatima, the station chief, said on Tuesday that police had received the complaint but since the victim was an adult, she first needed to authorise a relative to file a complaint on her behalf.

But the victim is unconscious, so case closed.

Memo to Police, she is in a coma, and  may not survive, please get on with

the investigation so she can at least get some justice, though she may

never know about it.

No, A local VIP is involved so they make up the need for her to authorise someone to file a complaint, which they know she can't. It's the perfect get-out clause. No complaint received, case closed.
