Video: Blame the pink Fino! Motorcycle named and shamed for road accident in Ratchaburi

CCTV footage from a U-turn in Ratchaburi showed what happened when a car swerved to avoid a motorcycle crossing the road.

The car went into the side of another making a U-turn.

The motorcycle then goes merrily on its way in the other direction.

Poster Chantana Cpkk had no doubts who was to blame - that pink Yamaha Fino.

The accident occurred in the Damnoen Saduak area of Ratchaburi south west of Bangkok.

Thai Rath reported the story without stating what was agreed afterwards or what police action was taken.

What is your opinion?

It certainly looks like the bike is to blame    to me

the pickup truck was going quite a bit faster than the rest of the traffic..but

Yep typical scoot rider not judging speed of on coming traffic, truck way too fast, one lucky scoot rider at the cost of car u-turning.

Hold back a bit on u-turns.

The driver of the white truck is to blame. One just cannot approach an intersection with far more than the legal speed.

It looks like the motorcyclist waited for a good opening and the car that swerved was driving a high rate of speed. Of course the motorcyclist should have stopped but ....

I also think the pick-up has part of responsibility as he was going too fast. Probably the Fino misjudged the speed of the pick-up and would have had enough time if the pick-up would have simply taken his  foot off the accelerator before arriving at the U-turn were many motorcycles and a car were waiting to move., which they never do.  NO anticipation at all.

Scooter rider , if they had not encroached the collision wouldn't have happened.

So many say the pickup was going to fast, well look where the pickup stops 5-6 metres past the u=turn.

If he was going to fast he would end up 20-30 metres past the u-turn.

?

He started to brake way before the hit. Check with your stopwatch. The white pickup does around 25m/sec. That converts to 90km/h.

All involved seem to be somewhat at fault.

1) The Black Car (waiting to U-Turn) was impatient and edged out into the lane of on-coming traffic - placing himself in the 'line of fire'....  Ultimately the victim of his own impatience.

2) The Pickup was traveling way too fast and approached the intersection / junction without caution with nothing more than the assumption / hope that no one will do anything silly.

3) The bike pulled out into oncoming traffic, perhaps misjudging the speed of the on-coming pickup, however, none of the other bike riders pulled out which would imply that the approaching speed of the pickup was easy to judge.

Immediate cause - the bike.

Contributing factors -  poor driving standards all round making both the pickup and the black car complicit in the accident.

Root cause - poor driver education and extremely poor attitude to road safety all round.

I've been driving motorbikes for 4 decades and am alive and whole due to hyper awareness, spatial awareness, critical thinking and situational extrapolation potential movement scenarios all the time. It pains me to say this but it must be said. I believe the huge majority of accidents involving a bike and another vehicle are primarily the fault of the bike rider for lack of one or more of the aforementioned factors which must be being cognitively played out constantly. This case is a perfect example. The pink Fino rider caused that accident, everything else is incidental.

The moron making the U-turn had the front of his car blocking the far left hand lane of oncoming traffic.  If he would have been on his own side of the road divider, there would have been no collision.  And the suicidal Fino rider is a moron too as well as the pickup driver who is driving aggressively.

Two wrongs makes a ri.... ? <humm> ... it makes two wrongs.  Classic Thai driving.  Everyone involved is at fault.  Not one person attempting to drive defensively.  Everyone involved is only out for themselves!!!
Som naam na.  Everyone is reaping their reward for bad karma in their past lives.  <eye-roll> Well, except for the Fino rider who had his lucky amulets on and will live another day and probably be the cause of another accident in the future although he should have earned a Darwin Award for his part in that accident.

The far left lane is the one kerb side, I presume you mean the far right land (based on facing direction of travel of traffic) That aside, the black car was certainly not "blocking" the outside (right) lane, only slightly edged into it so very little or no blame lies with him. The light coloured truck should have slowed down so deserves some limited blame but it's the moron on the scooter who holds most blame ... and he knows it!
