Pattaya Motor Show draws big crowd

PATTAYA:-- Cars, bikes and models drew large crowds for the 9th Pattaya Motor Show at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

 

Car and motorcycle enthusiasts mixed with shutterbugs snapping photos of the car “pretties” at the July 27-Aug. 2 show.

 

Central Festival General Manager Ranida Ratana­chaichok said the event drew both Thai and foreign car lovers from many provinces in the East and Bangkok.

 

While just a fraction of the size of Thailand’s two major motor shows, the Pattaya exhibit had models from BMW, Honda, Ford, Toyota, Mazda, MG, Gemasia and Harley-Davidson.

 

BMW used the show to highlight its new X2 while Ford showed off its new Ranger pickup model.

 

Entertainment was provided by Rose Quartz, while guys drooled over the “sexy bike wash” by Cherry Samkhok.

Where are the pretties ? Those cars look like they are made out of electric razors.

Big crowds ? I can only count 5 people in the picture.

Any  latest  Ferraris, Lambo's, Astons or Porsche 911 ?  Or is it just Jap plastic match box cars?

Where are the carpet dollies?

Gemasia .! bit crafty slipping that in amongst Toyota , BMW , et-al .. Still no accounting for taste .. And MG .! not the new ones please ..

nope  but that usual...only hear of the events after the events  sometimes weeks later.

no problem. the mall here in Hua Hin has a Mercedes display going on now. Great fun to watch the sales girls heads explode as you act like you are serious about buying one.

Thailand has a poor selection of cars.  Clearly evident when you drive around and see the same cars over and over again. I've been considering buying a car but there is no good fast sports car that won't break the bank.  I'd even settle on a Hyundai Genesis Coupe here if one were available (only Hyundai available in Thailand are vans). 

 

I'm assuming importing something like a Nissan 350z  would cost a fortune in duties and the vehicle must be right hand drive.  Someone let me know if I am incorrect in my assumptions.

Seems odd that Hyundai Thailand doesn't show any cars except one electric car on their site.  If they're truly available the marketing guy at Hyundai Thailand needs to be canned.

Strange indeed, maybe they changed policy  recently, but I've seen quite a few of the Sonata that looks like a Mercedes.
