Popular Post webfact Posted August 23, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2018 Mourning man walks from Trang to Doi Inthanon with girlfriend’s ashes By The Nation An Udon Thani man has spent over a year walking from Trang to Doi Inthanon mountain in Chiang Mai to spread the ashes of his girlfriend. By Wednesday afternoon, Sakchai Suphanmart, 39, from Udon Thani's Muang district, had reached the bypass road in San Patong district of Chiang Mai. He was seen pushing a cart with his belongings and walking along with two dogs while holding a black kitten. Sakchai told The Nation he started walking from Trang in January 2017, staying overnight on the roadside along the way, with help from villagers. Sometimes, he slept in graveyards. Sakchai said he was fulfilling a promise given to his girlfriend, who died in October 2016, to take her to visit Doi In Thanon. He went to work in Trang, where he met the woman and promised to raise the money to take her on a tour around the country and to Doi Inthanon. Sakchai said he planned to make merit for his girlfriend on the mountaintop and spread her ashes there. He said me met the two dogs and the kitten along the way. He found the first dog abandoned in Samut Prakan and the second one in Phitsanulok and they followed him. He found the kitten on a roadside on Wednesday and so had picked it up out for fear that it would be run over by a vehicle. He could not hold back his tears when speaking about his girlfriend, saying they were very close while working together in Trang. He said he could not yet stop thinking about her. Popular Post Andrew Dwyer Posted August 23, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2018 This was on the tv last night and my gf was sniffling away.Very sad story but dispels the myth often stated on here that all Thai guys are worthless cheats. This guy is showing us all that true love does exist and I wish him well on his way and hopefully he can find closure after scattering her ashes . 4
Popular Post colinneil Posted August 23, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2018 Good on yer mate, you are an example of true love. Your girlfriend would be so proud of you. Safe travels and at the end of your journey, i hope you find some peace, you are a true gentleman. 4
Enoon Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 For the present he has something to live for. Hopefully someone will be in attendance (and will help him to find a "place") when he complete his task and fulfils his duty. 2
ThaiPauly Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Good for him, it's rare these days to find someone willing to go to the lengths he is going to to fulfill his dead girlfriends wishes. I hope he makes it OK, it's a tough walk up Doi Internon. I have never done it nor would want to attempt it, and it will be harder for him with that cart to push. But he will.....you just know it 2
kotsak Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 From what I read elsewhere looks like he may not be able to go through with his plan, scattering ashes is not permitted up the mountain. On the other hand, setting camp overnight and shooting endangered animals is fine.. ? 2
Stargeezr Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 What ever is done in the dark of night is easier to accomplish than in the glaring light of day. Know what I mean? I wish this guy success in his journey and goal. Geezer 1
MRToMRT Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 There a lot of comments in other sites on the issue of the park saying no to scattering of ashes - I agree that it could have been handled quietly (maybe it was and it was just the reporting that made it seem different as it normally does in this country - sheet reporting from sheet media - but the whole world seems to suffer that curse at the moment). I am normally a national parks basher but this is one time I agree with them - can you imagine if they had publicly said yes - everyone and his dog including all the Jin population of Thailand would have been claiming the right for burial rights.
keysersoze276 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Oh man! When I started reading this very short story, I felt happy, then sad, then I felt kinda like an a****le. Well, not at least I feel inspired!
