Najomtien bombs putrid canal with EM balls

PATTAYA:--Najomtien officials and residents tossed 3,000 effective micro-organism balls into a Moo 1 canal to purify the smelly water.

Village chief Somsak Tubklad said sewage had been pouring into the waterway behind Najomtien Temple at the end of Soi Ton Had, with the black water emptying into the sea causing pollution problems for residents and fishermen.

It was hoped the “bio balls” would clear up the putrid water.

However, officials acknowledged the EM balls were just a temporary fix and the cause of the wastewater spills into the canal has to be found and stopped.

As the article plainly states this is an avoidance of dealing with the real issues, or more precisely, an avoidance of dealing with the people causing the problem. Sometimes the non-confrontational, short cut solution is no solution at all.

Seems the problem is due to not flushing canals, problem not only Pattaya but everywhere.

The Canals should be flushed on a regular basis, otherwise the water becomes stagnant plus used as waste & sewerage systems....

When the "Officials" invite the media to these ignorant actions that do not/ will not produce any results, are they actually thinking that the people of LOS are stupid enough to believe any of their crap? Or are the "Officials" the stupid ones thinking that their actions are correctly gaining results ? Vote for #1 or #2

If my memory serves me well , up canal there is a bend in the river with lock gates.

Bow locks possibly.

think the actual problem is a lack of a sewerage treatment plant. throwing some balls into one creek is not even putting a bandaid on the festering wound that is the problem. it is not even thinking about getting a job to earn some money to go buy a bandaid to put on the wound.

I stopped eating fish in Thailand many years ago, along with many other dubious things !

It's worse than that. Your balls are swimming in sh*t. ?

If only all Thailand's problems could be fixed so easily!
