More CCTV cameras to be installed on Koh Tao

 

 

SURAT THANI, 29th August 2018 (NNT)-Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat, says more CCTV cameras will be installed on Ko Tao Island to ensure safety for tourists. 

Weerasak said an investigation is now underway on the tourist island to verify a female British tourist’s sexual abuse claim, adding it would take some time before any conclusion could be made given that the incident took place a while ago. 

The Tourism and Sports Ministry is set to revise security measures and has instructed a related agency to install more surveillance cameras on Ko Tao while admitting that the news has affected the island’s tourism. 

Meanwhile, Gen. Surachet Hakpal, the Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police, and a group of forensic police traveled to the island to look for evidence and witnesses. 

The owner of the hotel, where the British woman had stayed, claimed she told the female tourist to seek help from the police after learning about what had happened to her. 

Gen. Surachet will ask the British embassy to urge the alleged victim to return to Thailand to provide more information and evidence to the police.

I wonder if there's a person employed on Koh Tao like the old gas lighters in the UK back in the day, that go round turning all the CCTV cameras on in the morning then off at night. Lol.

Nah.  With today's tech, all they have to do is program them to go fuzzy when selected HiSos' smartphones are within Bluetooth range. 

 

Then provide the app to those who are above the law.  So they can continue to act with impunity and not even worry about those pesky new CCTV's.

They'll be turned off at night in order to save on electricity...

All will be saved to a reliable, genuine, non-fake 16Gb memory cards recording on an endless loop.

Installing the CCTV is not the thing. Using them, using them properly and make sure they cannot be compromised is what is important.

Best - send the pics online to the internet so they are not in the hands of those who in the past showed that they "did not know" how to use them properly.

The sports and tourism minister says the investigation is underway and Big Joke says its concluded so that's all crystal clear then?

That's going to solve all the problems and no doubt the tapes will keep getting deleted every 7 days, if the CCTV cameras are actually turned on or working...lol

Ask yourself this question. 

If you were drugged and raped in the worst way to be raped, on an island where another female raped in exactly the same way was bludgeoned to death by decapitation, would you come back? ?

When I bought a bar twenty years ago, had to educate the barman not to switch off the beer fridge at night. His previous boss insisted he did it, in order to 'save electricity'.

 

What's the use of installing more cameras?

That just means there'll be as many inactive camera's as there are "inactive posts" for the well connected !!!
