Men-only Police Academy will ‘hamper’ probes into sex crime

I echo other comments here that this is a backward move. But I guess apart from the Rights Group saying a few things I doubt that others will follow. What a sad, sad mindset.

Another interesting contrast in Thai culture. I have been impressed with the number of women in senior, including CEO, positions within the private sector here. However, when it comes to "the forces" the male arrogance (or is it insecurity) shines through and keeps Thailands public image in the dark ages and way behind much of the modern world.

I wonder what these dinosaurs would say if they were told that the top cop in the UK is a woman.
But then, the unelected leader of Thailand is a Muslim...... He's the one who said after a girl was raped that only ugly women should wear bikinis if they wanted to be safe in Thailand.

My stepdaughter want to join to join the police, does this mean she can't?

Many times unless a family has connections there is little chances that their off springs can join the police and even then many times there is a large brow envelope connected with the acceptance.

The women’s rights supporters said the national police office order of August 28 was backward

...like the entire administration of this country.

"...RIGHTS advocates yesterday raised concerns over the Royal Thai Police’s new policy of banning female applicants from the police cadet academy, saying the move undermines women’s rights and affects the prosecution of sex crimes..."

The idea that it would only affect sex crimes is ludicrous; excluding women from positions within the police force will affect all crime investigation and enforcement. When a society decides to consciously exclude roughly half its population from providing meaningful input to its police forces, it is voluntarily degrading those forces of law and order.

The RTP cannot afford further damage to its credibility and reputation; it is already underwater. Waaaaay underwater.

Hey Thailand! It is 2018; perhaps you might take note that fact...

You cannot damage what does not exist.... credibility and reputation...

I'm not surprised at the latest backward step in a nation of backward thinking & male dominance.

Our Prime Minister will interfere in almost anything, but lets see if he is game to touch this hot potato

& chastise the RTP for this silly decision in taking the force backwards about 200 years

Tomorrow's headline: "Prayuth invokes Art.44 and women allowed to join police academy again".

He creates a problem behind closed doors then "solves" the problem to garner votes.

The way Thailand is heading with lame decisions such as this, Thai Tourism will soon be able to promote Thailand as the destination to come see what it was like to live before civilisation

Actually that's quite a  catchy phrase and would probably have some appeal among a certain section of the world community. Can't see TAT adopting it any time soon though!

Police academy, I wonder which month of the training program is called fiddle month ( how to extort money from pesky Falangs ). Probably the first month of so called training as that seems the only thing they are expert at.

Wow....so comforting to know that the top echelons of the Police Farce...(oops Typo...must correct that later) is populated with persons of such High IQ, who after thoughtful contemplation can arrive at such a momentous and forward looking decision. .

Girls were always the tattle takes at home and in school. So it's natural any group of guys who might have questionable intentions would be uncomfortable with women in their midst. To be fair, if women can get anything banned that makes them "uncomfortable", then why can't men have the same priviledge? There, I said what I think about that "uncomfortable" crap, now open the doors to the women who deserve it. We know that once in they will want to set all the rules. Get used to it. The fun is ending everywhere.

Following up on the recent Royal Thai Police’s new backward and egregiously misogynist policy of banging female applicants from the police cadet academy, the Not The TAT has announced at this opportune time the new authentic Tour Uncivilized Thailand (TUT TUT) programme, which will be available in Chiang Mai from 4 September and in other provinces shortly.

Day 1. Pick up from your hotel  at 08.30, the tour will begin with a visit to Phrasing police station, where 40yo Lt Busaba Tongpetch (affectionately known in the station as ‘Nong’ ) will serve you tea and clean the cups before clearing the desks of her 30 male senior police colleagues. She’s also known to be good at English translation and is an invaluable asset to the force.

Day 2-4 ... you can fill in the gaps.

Female investigators ((police) are really needed to question females, they would be more comfortable talking with a female police woman than a male policeman. And especially younge girls.

But there again the top guys do not know this.

Backward thinking on the male side.
