Good roast dinner in Sathorn/silom?

Recommended Posts

Not been there for a while but I used to enjoy the Sunday Roast Buffet lunch at Molly Malone's on Soi Convent (between Sathorn and Silom).  Lots of roast meats and tons of veggies.

I liked molly Malone's in convent Rd also. But they always put a cover over the roast potatoes and steam them!

I haven't tried the new O'Malleys yet.

Usually end up at the NZ place in Sukhumvit soi 8, or get in a taxi down to The Londoner

I don't even miss a roast in my home country of England after living here for 15 years.

well you should know that you are in the minority

All nationalities will cherish food from their home countries as been stated on here many times.

Anyone who has tasted a proper brockwurst (favorite food of all my german friends)will know the difference

I miss a sunday roast even while in the uk, just can't be bothered to cook it for one, so will always insist we go out for one when visiting siblings

Suitcase always full of the comforts of home

Cooked a joint of pork recently with the cracking attached and served it to the thais who could not believe how nice it tasted

Brockwurst? Is that Bockwurst made with broccolli? Or possibly with badger (brock)? Really can't imagine too many people would be into that .

Good grief!

Still, each to their own....

I don't even miss a roast in my home country of England after living here for 15 years.

Let alone a roast dinner in the tropics of SE Asia....

And whilst i'm at it, what is it with Brits and the need for their Brit or Irish pubs worldwide selling their home comfort food and Brit/Irish beer?

Rant over. Carry on.

Because some of us still occasionally enjoy what we were brought up on.

Personally I sometimes yearn for old fashioned English fish with proper chips.

Would agree and disagree

if you need a really decent roast dinner - cook it yourself- not difficult and much better.

However I do miss the beer, there is nothing else quite like a country pub and fabulous bitter.

Saying that you can buy a decent range of imported beers these days.

I suppose we all like a bit of home occasionally- and to be reminded when tucking into our roast beef that we once ruled the world - just teasing.

The sausage, they like to eat it with asparagus in a sauce. Went to a friends wedding in germany and they couldn't get enough of it. I have asked a few Germans of their favourite food and they have all said the same

Whilst i didn't really like the sauce the sausage on its own was far better than anything in the uk.

It could of been bratwurst a white looking pork sausage. You will have to excuse my ignorance as it was a number of years ago.

roast meat is unheard of where I live (no one has an oven)

Go out and buy a halogen oven 1,300 baht one of my best investments but they never use it. I even cook the  fish in it instead of doing it on the barbecue. Tastes no different but easier

Don't get me wrong, every trip home, the return journey, my suitcase is full of cheese, mustard & teabags.

Roasts no.

But fish & chips - every weekend whilst i'm back in the UK. 4 weeks? A minimum of 4 lots of fish & chips...

roast meat is unheard of where I live (no one has an oven) and I usually do my own, roast pork loin in dijon is my favorite and recently I found a piece of frozen beef brisket at my local makro...when I got home I noticed that it is thai beef ('Nida beef' brand, uneeda beef) and I thought 'uh - oh' but I'll see how it goes...

looked at google where there's about a dozen recipes for brisket (seared then simmered stove top then in the oven) and I'm gonna go ahead on it with some tatties and carrots coated with olive oil and spices...

I'm a yank and I lived in the UK for about 10 years and there's nothing that I miss about the place except for roast Sunday lunch...preceded by some pints of cask bitter at the pub and then falling asleep afterwards watching the Eastenders omnibus...cozy, cozy, cozy...

You didn’t miss the weather, the nice teeth and those cheap nights out in London??

Some german saucages are very good but sure not all of them....they have so many different ones.

Not the Sathorn area, but The Huntsman at the Landmark Hotel had been known to do a good Sunday roast lunch.

Ya, it's OK and a pretty broad selection, but has a base price of 800++ baht.  Though Eatigo and others offer discounted rates, and The Huntsman itself has a standard come 4, pay 2 offer.

But The Landmark is lower Sukhumvit, and not close to Silom or Sathorn at all.

Again, Kiwi Pub is far from Silom-Sathorn, and cheaper, I wanna say in the 350-400 baht per person neighborhood.

The selection is accordingly more limited, but they do have the basics. Though it's not a buffet per se, as at least last time I was there, they limit each customer to 2 or 3 plates, and then done.

nah...Sunday lunch was always grand as I cooked it meself and had control...unlike the horrible dentists (stupid woman drillin' away and the drill slips and gouges me gums and I squirm and she shouts 'settle down will ye!') the weather but I always liked the storms on the southern coast in Brighton, the east midlands are miserable in that regard and I never went to London unless I hadta, plenty of whatever ye need in Brighton...

'my wife is very attractive, wouldn't you agree?' 'yeah, not bad...' 'then please come with us and then you can have sex with her so that I can photograph you together...' a pornographer masquerading as a lowly gardener in a 3 wheel Reliant Robin with a ladder on the roof...meself I hadta get back to my kitchen and prod the pork roast (with crackling)...

German sausages are the wurst.

Many high-end restaurants in BKK sell a german saucage platter with sauerkraut...very nice and also the Thai love it....
