Money exchange question

I know you get a very low exchange rate at the airport, but if you use an ATM at the airport, is the rate the same as using the same bank's atm outside the airport?

One the best rates for Thailand is to go into a high street Thai bank with your passport and debit account card from your home account and draw what you need, if they tell use ATM say no it costs me more using ATM.

yes. and any other bank's atm machine (unless that bank offers you the option to know your cost up front in your home country's currency -- don't accept that option; by not accepting you'll receive the network rate, i.e. Visa MC).

Please tell us you're joking ????

From Wikipedia:-

Quote

The term "High Street" is used to describe stores found on a typical high street to differentiate them from more specialised, exclusive and expensive outlets (often independent stores) — for example, "High Street banks" (instead of the less-common private or investment banks) or "High Street shops" (instead of boutiques).

The phrase "High Street banks" is used to refer to the retail banking sector in the United Kingdom.

A bank with retail branches. Any of the Thai big name banks will do.

As your Wikipedia quote says, High St Bank is a UK phrase. Maybe Bernyx is from USA, Oz, or Germany where they will only have Hohen Strasse banken and not High Street Banks.

I thought Superich on the lower level at Swampy ( or in Pattaya ) was the place which gave the best rates ?

Never used it myself but have seen many posts on here stating that .

You mean, to go to the counter with the  passport and debit account card from my home account and draw the cash?

I don't go to the counter I'm asked to go to one of the desks they have on the outside of the counter.

SCB is very accommodating even for small amounts, 180 charge instead of 220 at an ATM + extra costs in UK for ATM use abroad.

I know there's many other ways but this is nice simple for me.
