Tassanee, 26, thought nothing of it when she came home and her eight year old dog "Khao Tom" was not around.

He often would get out in the village in Dongling and would be back later.

But by morning Tassanee began to worry and went in search of her pet.

She found him strung up on a wall outside a rice threshing plant.

Neighbors have claimed that the "hanging" was not a deliberate act - the dog was caught in a trap designed to stop neighborhood animals biting ducks and chicken.

Earlier a duck had been killed.

Tassanee has now gone to the police for justice saying her Khao Tom was old and frail and was not the duck killer.

Not a deliberate act ?

What right does the ducks and chickens have to walk more free than the dog. If people live up to todays standard and knowledge, then take care of their pets and animals the right way this can always be avoided.

Sounds like a spring loaded snare he put his head in ? Which resulted in the hanging.Sad.

In other words the animal was regularly left to roam around the village...so what if it had been hit and killed by a truck on the road ?...or that truck had swerved to avoid the animal and killed a few kids eating at a noodle stall who would be responsible for those deaths ???

Sounds more like a careless owner that really could not give a damn if the dog ran riot when she was out - bit like most other Thai dog owners. Bet she'd be the first to complain if she got a bill for 100,000 baht for hospital bills as she could not be bothered to secure it.

Totally agree with posts saying she like many Thai's let the dog roam around, well it won't be a roamin no more.

I wonder whether doggie had been spayed too. Leaving a dog to roam the streets is just wrong but everyone does it. Dog can get into fights, join a pack and bite a human, get rabies etc.

If you get a dog, it's must be only your problem.
Keep dog inside with you and train to be quiet.

I have yet to hear of roaming ducks and chickens chasing, biting and killing dogs and children. As for dogs, I have heard of them terrorizing neighborhoods. So no need to tie up ducks, chickens, and children. Just tie up the dogs.

As some posters have already pointed out, she is to blame, no-one else. If you are going to keep a pet then you are responsible for its well being, and also to ensure it is not a nuisance to neighbours. If she was at work all day then she would have no idea what her precious got up to, and probably did not even care.

We have had a dozen or so dogs roaming around our village causing problems and the Thai owners either deny ownership or refuse to do anything about their so-called pets.  Perhaps we should have a chat with the owner of the ducks in this article as he might be able to solve our problem.

That's stretching your argument just a bit, don't you think?

Tongue in cheek I do believe!
