Police seize dozens of Thaksin-Yingluck calendars in Ubon Ratchathani

A combined force of police, military personnel and local administration officials on Tuesday seized dozens of New Year’s calendars depicting former prime ministers Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra from a house in Warin Chamrap district of the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani.

The calendars carry a New Year’s message and mention about the upcoming election but police have yet to establish the source behind their distribution.

The calendars were found at a house belonging to Mrs Ratthavi Phuipom, a staunch supporter of the red-shirt movement  Her son, Saravuth, told officials that his mother was on a business trip to Bangkok when the house was raided and he had no idea who delivered the calendars to the residence.

Confiscating calenders.... whatever next!?

Ethnic minorities?

He also asked the media not to blow the calendar issue out of proportion, saying that he didn’t want to talk about the issue.

Too late Mr P.

You have done that already yourself, by sending in police, military personnel and local administration officials to confiscate them.

The saying "couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery" comes to mind.

Some people under the impressions that we live in a political paradise much like switzerland or similar, forgetting that a junta of an ex army generals strongmen is running the country, and that those people depicted on the calendar are fugitive from justice and a thorn in the ruling party backsides, so yes, no wonder why it was confiscated....

All the symptoms of a paranoid regime. Next will be "The lists". Oh sorry! It has already happened, some opponents  have "disappeared"..

And, by Thai standards, the Thaksins haven't done anything wrong, hence their non-extradition while globe trotting.

It´s fantastic how scary a picture of two person that fled the country can be. Now it´s totally clear for me why everyone is so scared of ghosts.

Absolutely.

Well done the PM for the free promotion of these calendars in the press. I bet next week he'll try to ban music that scares him too...oh, hang on a minute, he's been there, done that. Something else he's successfully promoted.

Is he going to visit a doctor soon about his foot-in-mouth-disease?

Well Mr Prayut all you have done is make more people want to get their hands on one.

What a brain dead stupid thing to do, just drawing attention to them.

Just like Henry Ford said..... Any publicity is good publicity.

Excellent publicity stunt. Print a few calendars and make the front page of the news. Well done to the Gov and Police for once again pushing the Shinawatras to the forefront of everyone's minds ????

Soon, every policeman and soldier will have his own calendar.

Like with most things in life - you can make it (them) illegal, but you can't make it (...them) unpopular. Thin-skinned hypocrisy at its worst.

I wonder what law they can quickly manufacture to make a Shin calendar an illegal publication?  It boggles the mind.  ????

What a superb publicity coup for Pheu Thai - I bet there are many more stored somewhere.

Oh Nooooo, Ban that vile contraban. Who knows how much damage it will do to national security.

RUBBISH - they were very successful in maintaining National Security when in office. It is paranoia by the minority. Sorry but the word is "contraband"

Get a grip man, I was being sarcastic, and a thousand pardons for the misspelling. I'll try to be more aware in the future.

" and that those people depicted on the calendar are fugitive from justic"

That didnt stop a National police chief from having dinner with Thaksin a few years ago!!

They'll be flogging them on EBay tomorrow for 500bt each!

A sure indication of a free society. The junta is doing great work....in producing more fodder for another rap song.

I'd like to have one of those calenders, they would make a good conversation piece

Calendars ???

Jesus wept.

The ineptitude of this lot is staggering.

The petty small mindedness mind boggling.

Utter imbeciles.

Why the Junta is so S.......They  are giving free publicity to the Shins Family...

The damage that these calendars could have done is huge. I fully support the junta for taking these actions. These calendars are a direct attack on Thainess. These calendars directly damage one of the most important acts of Thainess being late. People might even use them to start planning ahead, that is unheard of. So ban these dangerous things before they utterly destroy Thainess.
