What's about the violence in Thailand nowadays

Agree.  Chiang Mai is much safer than any big city, USA.  Not even close.

In Chiang Mai (past 10 years)

I've been threatened by a drunk Brit wielding a pool cue.

Drugged in a bar by the barman, then followed and robbed by two Thai girls.

Punched in the face, stiletto heel through my foot, and chased with a machete by my first Thai live-in gf.

Threatened with a flick knife by my Thai wife (now divorced)

Compared with London (previous 60 years)

Couple of fights in the school playground when I were a lad.

There was a rowdy drunken football crowd on the London Underground with me once, but they ignored me.

Thailand wins the violence award hands down for me, but the makeup sex with the Thai women after their violence was always worthwhile.
