Yes, the 4736 is easy to change, it's the other one that is more difficult. Do the 'straps' have contacts on the end so need to be fitted firmly in place or are they just straps to hold it in place? As they don't have pins to insert it's difficult to tell if they are connected properly.

I thought the Tech was doing the other. As I told you, I use the official service centre for Acer repairs.

Plenty about around 20,000 baht, here is 2:

Never used anything but AMD for around 30 years........

As for Acer no idea as mine is 11 years old, and still used often, the only thing is the battery needs replacing, and the CD/DVD drawer sometimes gets stuck, it is still running on XP never needed any repairs OK it is a bit slow compared to my PC which has not been updated for over 4 years.  FX 8300, with 16 GB Ram, Windows 10 Pro - 64 bit, did add the R7 graphics card 6 GB memory about 18 months ago,

As it's similar size and cost what is the advantage of the Samsung over the Crucial ?

Samsung evo 860/970 is the gold standard of ssd brands imo

The warranty is usually longer and the TBW is more than cheaper brands

I have some that Samsung 840 and 850 drives that are running 24/7 for years now and far exceeded the warranty so i trust their quality and the price difference is negligible thesedays

So how about a cheap Windows 10 to put on the drive? Do the ones on lazada for 100 Baht function ?

You don't need to buy a Windows licence as you already have it. Pay attention. ????

Though it is recommended to install Windows 10 Pro, as opposed to Home as you have now.

So take a chance for 100 baht.

Happy to take a chance on the Windows as I will order it when I order the drive, but I don't have a licence, the windows 10 that came loaded on my laptop didn't have a licence, I have no key number for windows 10.   ????

You do have a licence for Windows 10 Home on that laptop. They are not supplied with Product Keys. The Hardware will be recognised once you connect to the Internet and will activate any new copy of Windows 10 Home installed to it...even if you change the storage drive.

Oh, I wish I'd known that this morning ! I paid 1.55GBP only (65 Baht) for a product key from Ebay for windows 10 but I couldn't download the files as I had no internet connection so left it a couple of hours ago with my Techie man but they charge 400 Baht to put their copy on !

Edit : How do I connect it to the internet with no Windows installed ?

All the good effort wasted. Now you will have no idea as to what they will install.

No Internet Cafes where you live?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 to download the Tool to create the installation media

or

Yes, thankyou knee deep, I had those links. When I get it back tomorrow ( It's ready but I have to look after my son since 2.30) I will check, I gave him the key and told him Win 10 pro. As it will now be working and internet ready I can upgrade to Pro if he hasn't already.

You were supposed to download and create the installation media before you changed the drive. ????

Bootable linux cd or usb. I downloaded win 10 but after 2 hours it would not install, now use linux mint, better for my needs.

I'm looking for a new machine similar to the op, but Acer is out as had 34k baht model a few years ago that lasted just 3 years. Anyone experience with HP? seen one with 15.6 screen, 8 meg ram and Ryzen 5 for 16000 baht. No SSD though but it's got an optical drive so could put an SSD in there.

Samsung was a good laptop that last 6 years and Toshiba, can't seem to see them in the shops now, it's mostly Acer, Asus and Lenovo with a few Dell and HP models.

One can still get hold of Samsung laptops but you will probably have to go to Hong Kong to get a new one.

hi,

i was wondering in which cases in a laptop a glare glass screen is better than anti glare one?

I am asking because i don't like the glare glass screen but seeing many laptops offered with that spec i guess there must be many who prefer it, i just don't understand why
