Watch uk tv with a VPN

I use express VPN and pay monthly.

I use it for literally everything - Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu etc and works flawlessly.

Once you buy the subscription, they have a chat box on the website and you can ask which VPN Server Locations unlock which content.

I have zero doubt it will work for UK content, as long as your connection is sound to begin with.

FWIW, I tried PrivateVPN but binned it after I noticed that my download speed on 3BB 200/100 went down by 90%. So I took a punt and went for a SOCKS5 proxy instead, that allows me to bypass the proxy server to a direct connection. It's a bit less secure than a VPN but still anonymous - I get my full DL bandwidth and I don't do porn or money-laundering so it's secure enough for my needs.

The problem with BBC in particular (as you probably know), is they are pretty crafty with IT; as soon as they identify a server as being used to access their TV, they block it and the provider has to respond to that, usually by tinkering with the name or the IP address, but in the meantime, you don't get no BBC. I've been lucky so far, but it is a game.

  • I also think this is the best solution if you just want the basic UK channels (ie no premium channels). Why is it better?   1. You dont have to be endlessly messing about with VPN server set

  • PureVPN has a "BBC" channel and it still seems to work (screenshot just taken). https://www.purevpn.com

I just use a modded Android TV box, the best app going is called "Mobdro", completely free, no subscriptions, vpn/proxy needed at all. If you've got a decent internet connection you should have no issues. You can try the app on your phone, it's not on the playstore and I don't think I'm allowed to link it here but it's the first link on Google.

I have been using PureVPN years now and haven't faced any problems yet. Try different servers and you will get the speed you want specially on streaming channels like you need to watch UK TV. Try out there UK servers. Some servers are distant so they might have high latency which effects the speed and ping of the VPN.
